Post Anyone fishing Trinity bay lately?
Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips wanting to possibly get into some reds or trout. Havent been saltwater fishing all year so any tips or hints for that area would be greatly appreciated.

The reports are pretty good today on the lili fishing tournament that
runs here this weekend...

You can still buy an entry ticket I think at JJs Drydock and baitstore right there at Hugo...

My buddy Robert Y.'s son has won the kids division 2 years in a row and has some
nice college money stacked up from prize money !

Thanks guys how shallow is it running in these places. Im running a 20ft bay stealth with a 130hp and am planning on launching at the locks and thought about running out long island into the bay. Any suggestions on what route I should take?

Thanks for all the advice guys im glad this site is here with good people on it that will help guys like me out. Iv been looking at google maps and can see the route you fellas are talking about. Is there a site or something that can tell tide times in advance. We are thinking of leaving friday morning and fishing but mainly running the boat since we havent ran it in awhile.

Trinity Bay is a place where tide charts are useless...

There is a 3 to 4 hour error - because tide charts are
mathematical estimations based upon smoothe shorelines
and Trinity Bay is a giant pocket with a masive river influence
sometimes and no river influence other times...

I use USACE real time actaul water level monitors - add in wind
and river flow data and then best guess what will happen in 12 hours...

So - like I said earlier at midnight water will be 1 foot lower than at 8 pm...

If you get hi-centered on a sandbar - take enough beer and sandwiches
to sit there till dawn and then start pushin - LOL

Lol we will be launching around 8 or 9 in the morning Friday I'll prolly play it safe. I have an iPhone with the gps that will track where I go so I'm goin to set it up in the boat to use to try and stay in the deeper channels.

Fished from oak island down the east shoreline heading north, then in drum bay, west side of the island at the mouth of the river and into jacks pocket on Friday. Got two bites, bait everywhere just did not add up. I know they are out in the middle of the bay but I m not running the GTR out that far. Ell grass is not in yet for some reason either up in the pockets.

We put in at the locks on the trinity friday morning. The locks are not staying open but they let us thru both times very quickly. We went up river and shot some decent gar fish.
