Re: What makes a "mud boat" All BS aside, a mud hull is usually considered a slick bottom hull with longitudinal bracing built with at least 1/8th aluminum. Your typical jon has runners down the bottom, made out of .100 gauge or thinner, and horizontal bracing. Long story short, not counting any inboard mud boats, it is a hull designed for a mud motor instead of a traditional outboard.

Re: What makes a "mud boat" How the boat is built has nothing to do weather its a mudboat or not. Take a boat put a mudmotor on you got a mudboat. Take a boat put a inboard engine you got a real the mudboat which is my favorite ones
