 Too much pitch?
I have a 23 mbsd on a pretty heavy 1748 and my tiger prop wasnt doing to good so i got a 12x12 from Hopkins. I am very impressed in the prop but i think it is too much pitch for my poor ole 23. it sounds like my motor is loading up (might be fuel line issue) and the motor is only running about 3700 rpm (was 4100 rpm). Can i get my prop re pitched to a 11? And it pulls horribly to me. Which way do i bend the skeg?
Thanks in advance!!

 Re: Too much pitch?
Prop too big def your probably have to trim it to high to turn up and that is causing it to pull

 Re: Too much pitch?
Wasn't your Big Blade already pretty worn when you started fooling with mods?
I would have gotten another Big Blade and re-geared.

 Re: Too much pitch?
Its too much for that motor. I had a Hopkins 12x12 on a modded 35 and it would drop the rpm's on that motor a couple hundred rpm's. You can get it re pitched and that mb big blade is only 10" pitch and yes it makes a big difference. Have you tried running that prop with a load in the boat it may turn into a real turd when you do.

 Re: Too much pitch?
Yeah it was worn and I took the carb off so it's stock except exhaust. It isn't horrible with a load just bogs down. Have to trim it 9 miles high to run it. Think I might put it on my next motor. Are GTR 's hex or threaded?

What pulleys you running?
My first SD was a 05 23 hyper and it was running a 32/50 pulley configuration. Had no problem spinning the Hopkins prop.

 Re: Too much pitch?
What ever comes stock on a 23 LA Special. I found a local prop shop that said he could re pitch it and put cup back on my Big Blade.

 Re: Too much pitch?
I'm not knocking Hopkins. I am running a 12x13 on my PD. He must have not put much cup r tip curl on the prop. I do have more prop torque on my engine wif the Hopkins also.

 Re: Too much pitch?
Totally different motors; u should get a candy for recognizing that.
Fact is that the Hopkins props generally seem to pull more than the stock props.
