Post Prodrive Lower Unit Question
hey guys, I was wondering if the lower unit is the same on the 27,32, and 36 hp PD's. Im sort of new to this so it may be a dumb question.

Your question is very vague, But Yes they typically are the same, but Different year models have different components and upgrades.

basically what im getting at is, if i have a pd 27 and i come across a deal on a briggs engine or something in the 32-40hp range, can i retrofit it and replace the existing engine

im not so worried bout "doing" the swap as i am on where to get the engine used for a decent deal! thanks for your help. just exploring my options because the 27 Pd on my 1844 does "ok" but like any american, i want more, faster, and.... FASTER!!

It will bolt right up, just make sure you get an engine off of a PD or verify you have the right crank before purchasing. X2 on calling PD. They can tell you everything you need to know.

thanks, i called the,. they said you can do it but you have to change the tiller handle. If i can find a good deal on a 36 powerhead im gonna do it. i will also need a new prop
