So the gas engine is an imperfect beast that reqiuires a full time mechanic to optimally run.

i think your statement on decked heads vs non decked heads will not effect compression numbers is not correct. decking heads or using a thinner head gasket or o - ringing the the block will indeed increase compression. and it will also effect your cam timing by decking your heads.
