Was thinking about ideas to reduce my blind profile and other ideas, particularly for late in the season when the birds are
Pretty blind-shy. I've built a couple of the hybrid layout boats, but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Was also thinking that it wouldn't be hard to do something similar to a gator hide on a regular hull. Not with a welded on top though. Could just make a PVC or conduit frame that would go around the gunwales and have a few cross-members, then a sheet of fast grass or something similar with some openings for hunters. Could sit in low folding chairs and drape shoulders and head in blind material.

This might give you a couple ideas, but you would need to modify the layout.

I considered building one of these types of blinds for my boat, i think they are a great concept. The reason I decided not to is the amount of water that makes it's way into the boat over the course of a hunt. I swear my dog brings 2 gallons of water into the boat with every retrieve, wouldn't take long before you are laying in water.

So, you have a bilge pump that will mop up the water on the floor of your boat? That's really something. Can you give me a link?

If you have a floor with gutter on each side and a bilge pump, you will be fine. Plus with wearing waders and the back rest you will be leaning up against in a layout style rig, getting wet wont be a problem.

That's the only pic I have right now. There are 3 slots on the back, you can see the Al pipe where they are. The blind works as a scissors blind too, and I can close up the ports when I hunt alone.

Makes sense? I can probably get some better pics if you want them.

That looks like a really neat set-up. You mentioned that it could also function as a regular, stand-up blind. I like that. I wouldn't want to lose he capability to do that. You may not know which is best until you get out there. It would suck to not be able to switch on the fly. Do you just have holes to stick your head and arms through? Are they on both sides of the blind? Do you have any support running horizontally?
