Post Fiberglass vs Aluminum in mud
I would like to get some opinions on whats the best rig would be, I have a 12 36 aluminum and a 15ft riverhawk with a 6.5 surface drive. is there a disadvantage of fiberglass in the mud. I dont see a whole lot of flat backs running with mud motors. Mine performs well, but the main reason im questioning is because i have never been in a mud flat and if i went to one would the riverhawk be alright in it or should i run the aluminum? and also could i run that small of a motor in a mud flat? any input would be much appreciated.

The glass boat would be great in the mud. It won't be so good on the stumps, logs, etc. That is usually in the mud.

I'm thinking you need more power for a true mud flat. But hey, you might be lucky at getting tows in the middle of nowhere. Lol. No disrespect intended.

I run a 16 foot river hawk with a 23 mud buddy mini. Runs great in mud an weeds but I do worry about stumps an oysters.

Put some steel flex on the bottom of it. It would help over the oysters and protect it a bit form logs and such.

da_quack_meister, thanks for the advise about steel flex i will have to do some research on it right now i run quick slick on the bottom. It seems to help on sliding over grass an i'm sure it helps with sliding over the mud but the oyster seem to eat it off.
ducks19 ,yes I did have to reinforce the transom when I bought the mini never realized how heavy it really was an how much tourque these motors have but i love the rig runs great .
