 bigger prop
I put a stage one upgrade on my 36 hp Prodrive. I was wondering if it would do more for me to change my prop to a bigger one or a different kind other than the stock one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 Re: bigger prop
Your question is pretty generic. Depends on the RPM you are running (loaded and unloaded), what you want to achieve (hole shot, top end, RPM reduction), and target RPM you are trying to get to.

 Re: bigger prop
U have a CDI motor? How big is your boat? Wut Rpms r u running now?
If u do get a different prop, b sure to send it to Peck so he can make sure the taper is cut correctly. Just cost me over $800 to get my entire lower unit rebuilt because I was too smart to send my prop to him first. He still fixed my engine in 1 day and didn't charge me a thing in labor on a 2.5 year old engine.

 Re: bigger prop
I'm running around 4050 with two people an a dog. No I don't have a CDI motor my motor is a 09. I'd like to add more top end speed my bottom end is good. Cuz I've heard from people that changing from a stock prop helps to gain a little bit more speed

 Re: bigger prop
alot of the speed issue has to deal with the boat its on..........and you can have the pitch worked on your stock prop for cheaper than buying a bigger prop or one with more pitch......more pitch though could mean lower rpms and the same speed.....like I said, a lot of the top end speed has to do with how much boats in the water on plane.......

 Re: bigger prop
Doesn't do any good to mod a motor to make it turn up more then kill the mods with a bigger prop. You want response load carrying ability and power on the bottom end. Keep the prop stock

 Re: bigger prop
You don't have the RPM room to turn a more aggressive prop. You would have to add other mods and then balance the RPM with a different prop. A more aggressive prop can give great gains on both bottom and top end but you have to have the power to turn it.
