 Running a cam
Is it beneficial to get the beefed up bps push rods and rockers? Or are most folks who run cams still running standard Briggs stuff? Thanks

 Re: Running a cam
DO NOT go with BPS roller rockers.... I did my cam has wear on it probably needs replacing soon and my roller rockers are coming off.
I forget which brand Cody told me to go with but whatever it is I am going with it.
My rockers have a lot of play in them are a liable to fail at any moment. He said they need immediate attention. Also looking at changing out the cam to a custom grind courtesy of Cody @ SETX.

 Re: Running a cam
Haven't seen very many problems with the push rods, only problems i've seen with them is people over revving and popping one out or you'll get an occasional bent one but i've seen bent stock ones also. Most all problems are preventable by checking you lash and such. But i've also seen split BPS roller rockers just out the blue

 Re: Running a cam
I've got an older set of BPS R.R. on my motor. Compared to the new ones they look stronger. My dealer even said he would take the old style over the new ones. If I see where my cam is becoming damaged, I'll replace the RRs with PVTs when I swap cams

 Re: Running a cam
I may be wrong but I believe some of the older "bps" parts are from pvt & eagle.... Meaning if u have older parts, it may already be good stuff.

 Re: Running a cam
Hyper31
First thing you should worry about with that 5500 BAMF you are running, is the compression. Check it, and see where you are at.

 Re: Running a cam
Becasue the motors are coming apart because of to much compression, they build them not knowing the consequences of to much compression and then sell them, just trust and check it. 7000 are Natorius for blowing up

 Re: Running a cam
They don't sell modded motors (officially). They send you to shops that can do the work for you on your own dime and liability. Keeps them from having to answer any questions about failures directly and taking PR hits. Probably a smart move overall.

It's a secret. Bring it to Calen, GT, or SETX performance if you want a motor that last.

All I can say is if Cody says its too much compression, it's too much compression. No point in questioning him about a lawn mower engine
