 Where on the Texas Coast?
Looking to bring the wife down to the coast from DFW for a weekend fishing trip for our 17th wedding anniversary the first weekend in May. We don't get the opportunity to fish very often but it is one of her favorite things to do! Yep, I found a good one.... I'm looking for somewhere along the coast that I can haul my boat down (20x60 Gator Tail red fish series dual GTR), hire a guide for a 1/2 day to show us the area and then fish for a few days more. Looking from anywhere as far north as Bridge City to as far south as Corpus. Would like to go to a clean, safe area with a good choice of restaurants in the evening. I would like to target reds and specks and where they are abundant. Suggestions on area/guides? Thanks in advance.

Re: Where on the Texas Coast?
I'm not an expert at the whole coast, but Port Aransas or Corpus area has plenty of big city hotels/ restaurants AND the water is amazingly clear compared to Sabine. I'm sure theres fish there too. Of course, if your willing to drive to Sabine, might as well look into Calcasieu Lake near Lake Charles, LA. I hear the fishing is great there and you get to keep LA limits.

all along the coast is ripe for fishing, the further south you go the clearer the water.

If you go to the corpus area I can hook you up with a good guide. Sure he would be willing to go out in your boat and it would not cost you as much

Rockport in may is bad@$$. Great places to eat and if you make it for a couple of days you can stay a night or too and Port Lavaca, and fish matagorta, but not near as much to do there as Rockport.
