 Need Some Help
I am going to be driving to Louisiana from Tennessee to pick up a boat here in the next couple of weeks. It's about a 9 or 10 hour drive so I'm going to be staying in a hotel somewhere along the way. I'm not so much worried about the boat, but I am a little worried about the motor. Are these mud motors pretty easy to take off? I believe they are but I'm not sure? Is there anyway to lock one of these motors to a boat so someone doesn't steal it while I'm passed out?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You

 Re: Need Some Help
If they think to bring an engine hoist, they probably have bolt cutters for the lock anyhow.
Remember, these things weigh around 250 lbs, it's not like 2 guys can just pick it up & haul azz with it. They'll just take boat, trailer & everything. That's the fastest & easiest way to steal it anyhow.

9-10 hrs - not sure how early they will let you pick her up but I have a similar dilemma but coming from MN (19 hrs). Hoping to drive in, stay the night close by the shop and pick her up first thing and driving 10 hrs north to my brothers place in Arkansas.

 Re: Need Some Help
If I could back it right up to the door I would be in good shape. I would love to get down there and stay the night and pick it up the next day, but I can't be down there until a Friday and GoDevil can't have somebody down there on a Saturday morning early enough for me to be over there and let me get to it.

At least I'll be on the water now. 1st duck boat. I think it will be ok I would just hate to drive all that way, pay my money, and somebody take my boat and or motor.

 Re: Need Some Help
They are very heavy and awkward to carry but they can be stolen quickly and quietly. Just ask a buddy of mine who got his jacked outta his yard. Went to hook the boat up the next morning to hunt and no motor. If you are worried about it id just run a chain around the motor and then lock it to the trailer or something so maybe it would deter them for a little while.

 Re: Need Some Help
Run some fishing line from the motor to your room and tie to your foot. When they take it you'll know .

 Re: Need Some Help
Pick a nice lake about halfway home. Bring a tent and you can run your boat and camp next to it. Cheap too.

 Re: Need Some Help
Get a good trailer lock. Unhook trailer from vehicle. Lock trailer. Wedge vehicle against motor as close as you can. I lock mine to a tree in my yard with a braided steal cable I got from lowe's. Looks like a bike lock cable, plastic coated, but thicker and twenty feet long. You could secure it to the motor, run it through the drain plug hole on the boat, and then through the wheels on the trailer. Ain't going' anywhere!
