Post Northshore Commuters
Anybody commute from Mandeville to Chalmette area? Just curious if better to go causeway or via Slidell? What's traffic like and what kind of commute times?

Mapquest claims 59 minutes on both routes, but shorter distance via the causeway. Just wanting some real life opinions and experience for morning and afternoon commutes.

Thanks for the help.

Through Slidell. Way less hassle.

I'd skip the causeway and avoid NO all together and go through Slidell. There's a much better chance of getting stuck on the causeway because of a wreck, or on I-10 in NO due to rubbernecks than going 12 to Slidell.

Also, it's only about 40-45 minutes from Mandeville to Chalmette.

Go through Slidell. New construction opened up to three lanes from I-12 at HWY 11 to the I-10/12 interchange. It's three lanes all the way from I-10 to to 510 to Chalmette. Like others have said, avoid Causeway at all costs.

Causeway shouldn't even be an option if you are visiting the chalmations. It's a way, but much longer. 1 hr commute with no traffic.

I normally avoid 11 bridge unless I know of a wreck on the spans. I don't like the fact that I have No where to go if a car is coming head on. Seen way to many of those on there.
