I just got the 42 mikuni carb kit, everything else stock what kind of difference should I expect? And what is the next upgrade to get better speed?

You won't see much off the carb. Throttle response and a smooth idle will be about it. Simce you have the carb, go with a nice set of heads and an exhaust. Not happy then? Throw a cam in and have a strong, reliable motor.
