 Its Finally Home!
So I set out Sunday morning at 6:00 AM, headed to get my new boat. I stayed in Lafayette, LA Sunday night and then woke up yesterday morning and drove the rest of the way to Loreauville, LA (Gator Tail). Got to GT at 8:00 and was out of there by 9:10 which was 10:10 EDT. It was good to meet the people that I met and get to see GT but for anyone thinking about making a trip that long....take a moment and rethink that idea. I went by myself, 1679.5 miles, burned 126 gallons of fuel, and drove for 24:15 hours. I got home at 11:15 last night and boy was I glad to be home.
I will be adding stereo, wiring, lights, fuel, seats, HT and other misc over the next couple of weeks, so I'll post pics as I take them.

Its an 1846 gator series, storage hatch, pointed bow, hunt deck, short transom. (I know most of you will know that by the pics...)

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Going to be making a trip like that soon a little over 1400 miles round trip, but I will have company. I will be getting package #4 1846 really don't want to wait for a boat to be built if they have one there. I got approval for the loan and have to call GT today for them to fax the final price with the boat, trailer and motor information to the bank. You think you could post a picture up to show how wide the boat is with a reference inside the boat. I will not be able to look at them before I purchase. Your boat looks great, gratz.

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Looks different where the motor mounts to the transom. My buddies has the hump in the middle. Is that something different for the short transom?
Sweet looking rig either way man love the pointed bow.

 Re: Its Finally Home!
That's a nice rig for sure. You've come a long way since that homemade SD with a modded Duromax on a Lowe! Congrats. Any particular reason you decided to go with the short transom?

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Nice looking rig brother. Congrats on your new ride. When did they start putting that flat bar where the sides meet the floor? I don't remember seeing that on GT rigs in the past. What's the purpose?

Have not got that far yet, matter of fact I can't get them to even call me back. So not sure what I am going to do now. I don't mind waiting but.....not even a phone call back?

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Same thing happened to me when I tried to order a motor in 2009. I called and said I needed to place an order, and they said they needed to call me back, and I never heard from them again. I just had a dealer order me a motor this time so I didnt have to mess with it.

 Re: Its Finally Home!
The GT dealer here charges an extra 2k on their boats so I am not going to do that and its hard to order a entire setup without talking to them. I am not sure now if I want to give them 15k to build a boat if I can't rely on them to call me back. I really am not bad mouthing the company and from what I have heard is they were really busy from a boat show they did, which is understandable to get behind. I just have been looking at pros and cons of having a hull built by them or another company. I would say this falls to one of the cons. Funny thing is, this and the drive are really the only cons soooo.... we will see.

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Also for every guy like you that's actually trying to buy a rig there's 100 more calling taking up time with no intentions on buying. All I can say is be patient it'll be with it once you see the finished product.

 Re: Its Finally Home!
Question on the GT pointed bow: When you get an 1846 with a pointed bow, is the "point" added onto the original 18' thus making it longer than an 1846 with a standard bow?
Or is the pointed bow boat the same length as a standard 1846, and loses some front deck space for the point?
