Im shooting 100gr. Thunderheads and when I'm not shooting them I shoot slick triks.

Im partial to the fixed blades.

Sorry to have seen the question days after you posted it and so close to bow season. I shoot nothing but Magnus broadheads. I used to shoot the original 2 blade, then I switched to the big original snuffer. That is a really good broadhead. THen they teaked the snuffer and changed its size to the "Stainless Snuffer" which is a cut down more aerodynamic 3 blade. I shoot just the stainless Snuffer. I like em., they fly well, and the company is really cool to deal with. Lifetime warranty on them.

still a fan of the fixed blades! couldn't tell ya why, but i just don't like dem mechanicals. Muzzy b-heads are hard to beat. Shot G5 Montecs last year and liked them. gonna give Grim Reapers a try dis year. i only shoot 85 gr. heads so i am kinda limited on my selection.

as far as bows go, i like any single cam to be honest with you. i prefer the diamond iceman over the bowtech admiral, same bow but the diamond is a single cam. you cant beat a mathews, light, smooth draw, and fast and pending on the brace height you get they are very forgiving. the g/f just got a dxt and shoots dead on at 35 yards with 3" groups, thats shooting 50lbs with a 25" draw. i had no problem shooting 50-60 yards with my switchback but im not big into deer hunting and traded that bow for some guns.

anyways, a very good and durable fixed blade is the montec g5, solid one piece design, shoots just like a field point.or muzzy 3-4 blades, its just a proven broadhead.

now for mechanicals. rage, rage, rage...there is nothing comparable to them. massive entry and exit wounds.

forgot to mention:

i've been shooting a High Country Sidewinder (carbon) for the last 4 years. this bow fits me perfectly and i have become very comfortable & confident with it. wouldn't mine getting a new and improved bow, but i just don't feel like going through all of those motions to try & replace what i already have. to me, bows are like computers, as soon as you get home with it someone has already released a better, faster, updated version! have been really considerin' gettin' my hands on a recurve or long bow. still doing my homework on those and will probably make de jump around christmas!

Here's what you do..
Go get a Bowtech diamond package bow. Get some 85 gr Spitfires and have professional tech tune your bow. Get your rig "bare shaft" tuned. You may need a different rest than the package rest. Get it. Basically, once you get your bow sighted in, you shave the fletchings off the arrow and tune the rest for flat flight. Once you get the arrow impacting as flat as possible, shoot your fletched arrows. You will not be able to shoot more than 2 arrows at a bullseye without robin-hooding or busting nocks.

If you've got some coin get one of the Bowtech's with the binary cam system. They have almost 0 nock travel and don't come out of time. They also don't have cam lean.

Sight your bow in at 17 yards for a 20yard pin on the ground. At about 25 ft up a tree you are dialed in to 20. Make sense.

This set up has killed about 2000 deer for me and my buddies. It works.

You can get in a Hoyt, Matthews PSE etc argument but really none of them compare. It's like comparing a weedeater motor to a big block Van.

Been shooting spitfire100's for the last 4 seasons. They do a very good job, but once I run down my stock of them, I'll be going to the 2 blade rage. Didn't like the 3 blade rage when i tried them a couple of years ago, but have been seeing lots of damage on deer done my my buddies with the rage 2 blade. Just got to check the set screws because they will back out and some add the next size up o-ring to help hold the blades in place better. They were opening in the quiver.

I'm old school, and im young LOL. I shoot my dad's old XI Flatliner with easton 2312 aluminum arrows with a 4 blade Muzzy 125. Still aint killed one yet with it, But the old man has killed numerous deer with it. This antique does not have a problem shooting 300 FPS if the poundage is about 72-75. Only reason i never killed yet is because i usually shoot the damned bow in the yard only never in the woods, too many hobbies I guess.

When i first started shooting, i shot the 75gr Miniblasters, missed 5 times with them and they never opened even after a few were in the ground, rubberband still over blades, so i switched to the rage 2 blade and love them. Im shooting a Bowtech Tomkat at 70lbs, shooting around 305. Its a short bow wich i like for shooting out of a climber. U can practice all day shooting awesome groups on flat ground but once you get up in the tree it all changes . bought me a new rangefinder this year to help out with the ARC ( Bushnell scout1000) I missed alot of deer because of not taking in the ARC factor. I know this is fairly new technology and guys have been killin deer for ages but hey, i need all the help i can get, check out this info on ARC compensation ( http://getoat.com/page5.htm / http://www.fmpfullmoonproductions.com/feature.html ) Also what was hurting me on missing was i was climbing to high, 30ft. going to start out around 15ft this year. Ive killed many deer with a gun, but its way more hair raising having them in at 20yrds with a bow. Ive got this guy on my trail cam 9pt with a drop, hopefully he stays on this trail and gives me a shot. btw im hunting free ranging deer on national forest, so yeah i get a lil excited when i get one in close.

Not sure what state your hunting, but the scary thing is that that buck ain't over 3 1/2 years old.
