 Re: Sad site...
We're goin' over there this week-end and I'm dreadin' it. Some are tellin' me that thay cain't even fish where that normally fish durin' August 'cause of it ... Dang shame it is ..... Everybody needs to remember ...... If you git into that crap .... Leave yore boat on the trailer at least a full week before introduce it to another body of water .... and of 'course clean yore trailer and boat first also.

 Re: Sad site...
Two weeks mr brooks. Thats the longest they've got it to live on a trailer. And just cleaning the boat isn't guaranteed because the plant can live trapped in between the runners and the boat.
Hope y'all have a good time.

 Re: Sad site...
I haven't noticed the giant salvania out there, although there is just about every other kind of vegetation growing. 6' huh? That would make for an interesting duck season, or lack of.

 Re: Sad site...
Yea, not the same plant they are talking about but we are still overran with the other stuff, especially the sawgrass. Steve Spicer (lake manager) thinks he will get some sort of concession but not sure until he gets it. Man, if they gave us 6', even 4-5', the timber hunts will come alive. Sure would be nice wouldn't it? Spicer told me he was just devastated that the drawdowns had a negative effect. He took a lot of flak and wants to make things right. But, since it has to go though the legislature to get approvals, it takes forever. He know it won't happen this year, but shooting for next.

6' of water will be too deep in the woods to kill mallards. IMO

6' of water will make it impossible to hunt some really good spots, but it may make it awesome for some places that are dry land right now.

6' high is alot of water. 2' high had a BUNCH of water in the woods. I figure another 4' will be way too much. Could be wrong though. I might buy an outboard for that season. lol

Have they used any of those paddle boats to scoop it up like they do here for the hydrilla?

 Re: Sad site...
That's crazy, has it made it by all those houses along the water yet? I would say y'all could put up oil booms and block it off from traveling anymore but then boats wouldn't be able to pass.

 Re: Sad site...
This is a sad sight. This is my home. And to think when I come home in a couple of months I will have to see this everyday. That picture is in front of my house. To see all these beautiful lakes up here in new York then come home to caddo is going to make me sick. And to think back in 2001 the lake was in bad shape like this but it was water hyisanth. Then we had a big flood that got in peoples houses and washed it all out. Looked like a brand new lake.

 Re: Sad site...
Yea I've seen the videos jmarsh took. Hardly saw any water. And the thing is about that lake is they can't just drain the lake like they did dam b in Jasper a few years ago.

 Re: Sad *sight*...
Jmarsh x2 it's really really bad. Ben up there a couple times this week him. Most of the lake looks like a hay meadow. Especially anything not in the main river channels. The spray they are using seems to be working in some areas, the front of hog wallow mostly, but what they are using now may be too little to late.
2nd note: discussing boats. It was amazing the difference between jmarsh's tin can boat and the pro drive console we drove the next day. Idk if it was the weight difference or the gator glide on the tin can or possibly both. But the difference was pretty drastic.

Wow, I can't believe how bad it's gotten in a month. Maybe they will come to terms at the meeting and figure out a way to take care of it.
