Your question does not work for a number of reasons.

First off, if Trayvon were walking through my neighborhood and looked over and saw me, he would not have moved so much of an inch in my direction, and would have motored on down the road to get gone.

I do not like internet tough guys, but RangerP is six foot two, weighs a pretty solid 220 lbs, and is nothing like the dumpy little fat Zimmerman.

Thug punks like Trayvon do not look for fights, they look for easy victims.

17 year old black teen Demarquis Elkins is very similar to Trayvon. Both are the same age, both have tatooes, both had THC in their system, and both are little thug wann-be punks that listen to Lil Wayne rap music. Demarquis did not go out and find a tough guy to rob. He found a woman with a baby stroller, and when he tried to rob an unarmed white woman, he ended up shooting a 13 month old white baby in the face. He was not a tough guy, but was a spineless little gangster.

14 and 17 year old Dante and Justin Robinson did not go find a tough guy to beat up, when they lured 12 year old white female Autumn Pasquale into their garage, and beat her to death to steal her bike.

The three 15 year old punks in the video above did not seek out a fighter to tangle with; they found a smaller, weaker, 13 year old white kid to violently attack. By themselves, each of these thugs is a scared little punk that would not even consider jumping on someone that may be a threat, or that can put up a fight.

Ranger P did not take an MMA class. I have taught and competed in MMA for over 12 years. I have been on the mat, in the ring, with some of the top submission fighters in the world, and have won NAGA championships, and fought in a good number of All Army events. I have spent decades serving in the Ranger Regiment, the 82nd Airborne, and other Infantry units. Me and George Zimmerman have nothing in common physically, or in fighting abilities.

Little Trayvon would have got his head crushed if he jumped on me, thus the reason little turds like him will generally not even make eye contact with folks like me.


Now, if I found myself up against a whole gang of rapper punk thugs, or a real deal bad guy who had intent to come into my neighborhood, and threaten my life, or the life of those around me, then yes, I would have put a couple rounds center mass, killing the varmints.

I disagree. It was his neighborhood, and he cared about what was happening. Criminals were running rough shot, terrorizing, and I look up to small and weak men who have the courage to stand up and protect. My hat is off to him. If RangerP had a nickel for every time I have gotten my ass kicked, I could buy a house and new mud boat.

I have done more Brazilian Jujitsu/Submission Grappling than anything else. I trained in the Army Combatives system, helped build the Army Combatives School, did BJJ under Romero "Jacare" Calvacante, did some Muay Thai Kick Boxing, amateur boxing, and dabbled in Judo but was never much good at the throws.

As far as getting my ass kicked, I have been thumped by Forest Griffin up at Hard Core Gym in Athens Ga, I got destroyed in every way possible by Mike van Arsdale (winner of UFC 17), was man handled by Bull Shaw (all 340 lbs of him), Got knocked out tapped out and choked out several times over by Damien Steally, had the floor mopped with my butt by Andy Chappell, I lasted 15 minutes with pro fighter Rory Singer. I have been on the mat and in the ring with countless others pro fighters, Olympic wrestlers, and just old fashioned tough guys that have thumped me also. At 44 I am not as flexible as I used to be, and because of arthritis I cannot train as often as I used to, but I am still training weekly, and I get the most joy out of teaching young folks and seeing them pick it up and get bit by the fight bug.

Just because I am hard headed, rolling around in the parking lot of Academy Sports sounds like it would be worth the trip to La one day. We might just have to make that happen once.

When I rolled with Forrest, it was around 2004 (I was in my mid 30s then). He had a name in MMA then, but not as big as he would get latter on. I never did full MMA with him, but did submission grappling at the gym where he trained (It was run by Adam and Rory Singer). I was actually running my own school at the time, and went to train with him while he was preparing for a MMA match in South Africa. In that match (in South Africa) Forrest broke his wrist, and could not train any more until after I left that area. Back then my grappling and conditioning was at a level where pro dudes liked sparring with me to prep for fights. He fought in a tournament in Atlanta that I competed in 2002 or 2003, but he was fighting light heavy, and I was competing at 165 back then. If memory serves me correctly, Forrest got beat by Bull Shaw when I fought the NAGA in Atlanta. I got busted up in around 2007 and had to have some surgeries, and put on a good bit more weight than what I used to fight at. I would not want to compete at my current weight.


Nasty - I am familiar with Krav Maga, but never trained in it. It is a mixed style adopted by the Israeli military.

I will give you my five cents on "martial arts", and five cents is all it is worth.

I never call myself a martial artist. I prefer just being a fighter. "Martial arts" comes with too much politics, loyalties, in and out fighting, big egos, and nonsense that does not appeal to me.

In reality, there is nothing new under the sun. There are only so many ways in which to hit, kick, choke, or joint lock someone, and we aint got any technique today that folks did not have back in the 1400s or before.

There is no white bearded Chinese dude high atop a mountain that can teach you magical ways to move.

I am very leery about the exotic martial arts where they advertise as being "so dangerous". If you can box and wrestle, you can fight. Be it traditional boxing, Muay thai, or Karate, boxing is boxing. When it comes to wrestling, the shoot fighting, catch fighting, submission grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu..... it is all the same stuff. A choke is a choke, and an arm bar is an arm bar. I do not care what system it comes from, it is all the same stuff.

Some styles of "Martial Arts" became very "competitive" oriented, and for one reason or another, the rules made the style evolve into a system that is not real street or combat usable. In Judo, the match is pretty much over when you can throw the person and put them on their back. In real life, that does not necessarily end a fight. Taekwondo uses a points sparring, where quick punches get you a score, but that does not mean there is really any power to the punch, and often times they do not allow you to punch to the head. I do not find it real effective if you cannot punch to the face.

Some folks just want a martial arts training for the exercise, some like to compete because it is fun, some like the history and discipline. To each his own, but if I am going to train, I am not interested in belts, certificates, meditation, bowing, or tradition. I just like to fight, and boxing and submission fighting where you spar live appeals to me. Nothing against the other stuff, it just does not float my boat.

If you are looking for something that makes you a better soldier, and tougher in combat, I will take three dudes that played high school football to bust into a room with bad guys over three dudes that did traditional martial arts. That is just my opinion. I also rank high school wrestling as more usable in a fight than most of the traditional martial arts. I put boxing very high in importance of a fighting skill.

If a person wants to compete in MMA, then these days you have to be well rounded. You have to have a no-gi ground game, you have to be able to do Greco Roman and fight from a clinch, and you have to have a decent stand up game and be well versed in boxing and kick boxing. The modern day MMA fighters are all good at the whole gambit of fighting. My game is to one dimensional, in that I have much more experience on the ground that on my feet. If a person is going to fight me, the smartest thing to do if you are not real trained, is keep it on the feet, and shed as much clothing as possible. I did a whole lot of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu back in the day, and the collar chokes are a real advantage. If the person is wearing any sort of shirt or jacket, then I can choke them.

The UFC put a hurting on many of the old traditional martial arts gyms. You do not see near as many Karate, Kung Fu, and Taekwondo places as you did 15 or so years ago. When I was first starting, we sought out the Brazilians to learn our ground fighting, but we no longer need them. The American fighters have taken the jits, bastardized it, and all manner of MMA gyms have popped up around the country.

As far as the street usable stuff, I still think boxing is about as good a skill as you can have. The ground may not be the preferred place to go in a street fight, but knowing what to do if you end up there is handy to have. Beware the knuckle heads that tell you that there are no rules to street fighting, because that is bull. If you whack someone in the head with a tire iron, you will find out the rules. Assault and battery with a deadly weapon is a rule where I come from.

I hope that was not too long winded, and just because I view it that way does not make it so.

These aren't hard facts so don't shoot me. I think she is the highest paid Black woman and has a net worth of $$$$$$$$. I'm sure she gives to charities but not enough. All the wealthy democrats that are worth millions and billions preach about all this equality shit do nothing to help it. If oprah and all these other rappers cared so much they would give up half of their net worth to help the poor. They would have more than enough money left to do what they please. Why don't they?
