Post Great dog, loud boat trouble
My dog has been in my boat many times and she sits in her "place" the whole time. I added my blind onto the boat and now its really noisy inside the boat/blind. My dog bailed out 2 times yesterday checking my hunting locations. I was really reassuring to her that the boat was good and gave her a few treats, and played in there last night but I could still tell that she wanted no part with riding inside. The whole way back she had her head out of the dog door, and jumped out as soon as we stopped at the landing. Does anyone have any ideas how to help this or is it something that will be overcome with time? I tried my best to make it fun, and even threw some bumpers.

put a leash on her for the next few rides to make sure she dont do it again and she'll get used to it

We're hunting young dogs this year so i put this in at the dog door. Just adjust it so it fits right.

Thanks diddyduck. I have attached a leash that will allow her to go to the dog opening and not much further. Buck does the door fold up? I can't quite understand where the lead is going.

I did attach my do to the boat today while headed out this morning. She seemed to be a lot better and use to the noise level now. I think the first ride in the metal box was overwhelming the other day. After limiting out on ducks she sat and watched many come and go without breaking. The ride back unattached was fine. It was just a learning curve for a pup. I'm courteous how AKA can train without failure or attempt? This wasn't her first time in a boat but first time with blind.

The boat is a metal sided blind AKA "metal box". Noise echo's around in there. It wasn't her first ride in a boat. She has rode in the boat quite a bit. I did wait until the last minute for her to ride with the blind due to continuing motor troubles. You are a little bit right that I'll figure what it takes to make a great dog, but I do have a great dog I just need to better understand how to handle dog situations. That's why I asked. Thanks for your help though.

just a thought but id never tie mine off to the boat..if you HAVE to restrain them, put them on a leash and either hold it or put your foot on it..but never tie it off..if something happens to the boat youre gonna drown your dog

That was a one time only thing. I defiantly understand everyone's point and have only done that once. I don't travel crazy distances or through woods, but won't be doing it again anyway. However It did teach her after one time to stay in the boat while putting out decoys etc. I've been out 2 times since the tie to the boat with no problems with her. Advice taken..
