Starting construction on my boat tomorrow afternoon. I plan on transforming my 1542 allweld into my own version of the Gator hide since i can't just drop 12k on a boat right away. I'll post pics after she's done. WIsh me luck

Yea I'd like to see what you are doing,I was thinking about this myself.Boat blinds are just too high and stick out too much for me in the area that I hunt.

I'll take pics as I go. I'm going to try to make it as light as possible so my 23mini doesn't hate me..

 Re: home-made "gator hide"
i thought about doin the same thing on a boat but instead of usin aluminum and makin a true gator hide rip off, i would get some of those heavy duty snap buttons and put em all along the gunnel of ya boat. then take a big piece of heavy canvas and attach the male part of the snaps to it. you can make a big ass "cover" for ya boat. then mark ya shootin holes and cut it and fold to make seams so ya canvas dont rip. camo the shat outa it and sew in brush loops. wha-la! ya got yaself a GHETTO HIDE!!! then ya can run where ya goin, unroll ya hide, then bam! ya shootin ducks and they dont see ya! only other thing ya would hafta do would be make some backrests and some spud poles. and it dont way so much and its removable. wheneva i get my bigger boat ima make one for it. but i think itl work. good luck and make sure to post pics!

 Re: home-made "gator hide"
I used 8 treated 2x4's that were about 5' each and only one sheet of 1/2in treated plywood. I have an aluminum false floor front and back. I think it only added maybe 100lbs, maybe. So w/ gear, it should be a little less of a load than when I'd run 4 people in it. Makin a drop-in deck for the front hole, so it'll be nice to have when I wanna fish or whatever.

 Re: home-made "gator hide"
Thanks man! i hunt in alot of water hicen (sp?) and it'll be easy to just pick a bunch of it up and set it on the deck. The front deck is the original height so my dog will be a little lower too. I cant wait to try her out this weekend. Already got me a spot picked out in the wide open!

 Re: home-made "gator hide"
We took a couple sheets of 3/4" plywood out with us and set it across the seats and put layout blinds on top. Worked pretty good and it was removable.
I do like the snap idea, however my well behaved hog, (i mean dog) would prolly have the all @#$%ed up before we left the landing. haha
