 Re: Gator Glide
I used 1/2 gal of base and 1/2 gal of g4 and had plenty to do an 18x52.

 Re: Gator Glide
Just did my boat last Thursday 1854 went all the way on the bottom and 4 inches up each side, I only used a half gallon, took about 5hrs but turned out amazing. $130.00 bucks I ordered it on Monday had it here Thursday. David was great to work with.. Just remember the thinner the better on each coat. I used the small 6 inch hot dog sized rollers and it went on easy and thin, I went with the just the G2 in olive and was very happy with the color

 Re: Gator Glide
That stuff really does go a long ways. I did my 17x54 with G4 and I could have got by with a 1/2 gallon easy.

 Re: Gator Glide
I did two boats, 1848 and 1854 with less than a gallon of G2. Got 5 coats on each. About 6-8" up each side of each boat.
Like David says...thin to win!

 Re: Gator Glide
Mucknaked.... After you and I got done spinning my boat around in that cattail forest I was thinking a slick bottom coat would have made that job easier. If you decide to do it let me know. Sounds like a gallon will get both of our boats done.
What is the difference between G2 and G4?

 Re: Gator Glide
I was told that the G4 is a little tougher but not as slick as the G2. That's what I have (G4)

 Re: Gator Glide
Didn't know thin to win... But I did my 15' generously even up transom and sides, and let my lil boy do the sled and still had over half a gallon left, I got the gallon. Tried to make a sharp turn yest after the hunt, ended up on the bank sideways.. But it was easy to push off

 Re: Gator Glide
Go with G2 much slicker than the G4. The G4 is not nearly impressive as the G2

 Re: Gator Glide
I did mine with 1/2 gallon G2. Got 4 coats easily. Had a little left over to do the layout boat.

It tells the price and how to apply it on the Gator Glide web page. I think he is over around Sebring or Lake Placid.

Me, tb469, and mucknaked are in okeechobee. Istokpoga must be void of birds if you are headed to IPC. Istokpoga was the best back in the day. Haven't been on that lake in many years.

 Re: Gator Glide
Yes, I'd give it a very light sand and good wipe with acetone and roller on. Thin Thin Thin coats.
You should never have t strip GG! Ever!

 Re: Gator Glide
Thanks I realy like the new ( used ) rig. It's a lil heavy but I just hate to remove the hunting deck or back seats to reduce weight. I'll prolly remove all the foam out of it and move the gas tank to the front of the boat. I'm also putting a light bar on front ( prolly seelites) and maybe a winch. I'm also going to try that Sears workout mating that seems to be just as good as hydro turf . I think Repainting the boat and new GG will give the boat a newer appearance. I realy like how the boats set up and I appreciate the work the preveous owner put into it. I'd like to get the biggest and best of everything but I'm on a budget .

 Re: Gator Glide
Hey Frog,Lets say you do the bottom of boat and then about a week later you wanted to do the rake part that you didn't do when you did the bottom.Would you have to sand the gg that you just put on a week ago where they meet?Or would you just overlap it a little?somebody asked me that!

 Re: Gator Glide
In a perfect world, I would feather the existing GG back an inch or two and gradually come up over the existing with each coat.

 Re: Gator Glide
Dave.... can GG be applied without flipping the boat. My boat is too damn heavy to flip. Thinking about just lifting it off of the trailer if that will work.

 Re: Gator Glide
No problems applying from the bottom. the Gator Glide won't drip on you or anything. Only time I got any on me was when I was rolling back over it really fast and a few little specks flew off the roller. Very easy to apply.
