*I've been given a ticket for not having enough life vest in da boat. Wich I did he just refused to count one because he said he thought it was dry rotted, they were all about a month old and still had da price tag on da one he said was dry rotted.
*I've been given a ticket for not fillin out my self clearin permit correctly, I was of by one day on da date come on.
*I've been given a ticket for reckless operation of a watercraft, I ran over a log apparently dats reckless operation.
Now yes I have accidently done some things dat were illeagal and yes when I was younger I sometimes woundered outside da limits of da law on purpose just cause I was young and dumb.
And one more thing if Mr. Green Jeans watched me any closer he'd be in da boat wit me.
Now dat bein said I have met many GW dat were really good people and then I have met the handfull dat are total assholes.
And one who's name I will put out der is Dusty Rhodes who planted a bird on someone I know to try and make it look like they were over der limit. Dis is not just here say or just dis fella's side of da story Dusty got busted in federal court when da truth came out wit all da witnesses and evidence.

TBS you're missing da point. What I'm sayin is hundreds of years of practicing a way of life does not change overnight, old habits die hard. Just because da times are changing rapidly doesn't mean da people can change just as fast. But what else is new we have been forced to change by da rest of da world for a long time now.

My grandparents have told me stories about how they were whipped in school for speakin cajun french when dats all they knew. I guess da government decided da only way to get us to speak english was to beat our heritage out of us. Da French kicked us out of France, da British kicked us out of Nova Scotia, Da american would not accept us in any of da settlements along da east coast. We get to Louisiana and da only place da Spanish would let us settle was in da swamplands. Next thing you know da US is buyin da Louisiana Purchase and has been tryin to force us to change and to pratice der way of life ever since. So excuse me if I still believe in da ways dat my grandfather taught me, but I'll hold on to anything I can at dis point.

I am not sure that I would agree that things were so much better 70 years ago, I wouldn't know cause I am only 32. I am willing to bet most of us wouldn't last a week in our great grandparents shoes. They came from a much tougher time. They had no a/c, no water purification, food had to be consumed in a timely manner or it just went bad, kids grew up much quicker and learned to work hard at a much younger age, things we take for granted didn't exist in those days. We are a bunch of wimps in modern society, mud boats, Internet, all the cars and trucks we want and a comfortable lazy environment to sleep in when we get home.

If you really want to be like your pawpaw then sell your house, cars, Aucoin hull and gator tail. Donate all the money to charity and start collecting cypress. Build a bateau with a really old motor and move out in the basin. Build a log cabin, cistern, get some kerosene lanterns and start there. Start off trapping and fishing and as you begin to make a little money you may be able to upgrade to a bigger boat. But these boats are used to make a living, not to go out and have a party on the weekend. Personally I don't see you making it past a week. But I really don't know you so who am I to judge. Now that would be following in your grandpas footsteps.

I have alot of respect for the things our ancestors did to make life as easy as it is today, but now it's our turn to do that for our kids. One way we can do that is by following the conservation laws set for us. That way we can make sure our kids atleast get to experience the same things we do.

I will say dis about DR I had only one run in wit him as an adult and he was polite to me and I was polite wit him he checked me out and sent me on my way. Now dis was within da past few years and all da negative things I know of about him happened over 15 years ago. So that bein said I do believe people can change. And I can put da past behind me if he truly has changed. But you are da first person I know to take up for him and comin from you dat means sumthin. So I guess time will tell if he really is a better man these days and if you are willin to go to bat for him I will keep a more open minded attitude towards him.
