Re: Toughest lower unit: GD, PD or GT?
Like I said before, my Go Devil LT is a tough S.O.B.. Bought it in 1987, never put a tach or hour meter on it but it has to have over 1000 hours on it (maybe over 2000). I beat the piss outta it in logs, stumps, hard bottoms filled with weeds and the occasional tree and it has never failed me. Sure, I've had to replace worn out parts (prop, starter, flexplate on flywheel) but the lower unit is still in great shape. That's why I like Go Devils.
Anyone here running a 27 hp go devil? How do you think it would it perform on my old Lowe 16-40? Thanks again.

I have a 27 gdsd. Get the 35. Mine gets it done, but does it slow. Top speed about 18 unloaded about 10-12 with two guys and decoys in a 17x48 gutted bass tracker. I know the boat hull doesn't help but it floats.
