The stock cam has more pull than the Briggs from the get go. Don't get us wrong, for someone wanting to change from Briggs, I'll put money on it that if you take a stock Briggs off and put a stock Kawi on, the Kawi will out perform. It's a torque monster.

Bug's 1860 CC Barge is doing awesome for what it is. It ran roughly 1mph faster stock versus stock but had a much better hole shot. Now, doing his in steps, we've seen increase after increase. He's currently running a Mikuni 40mm, ported/decked heads and open exhaust and has gained 4mph.

Decking these heads .025" will give you 180psi. There were a few spots in questions that might have cause detonation so Bug cleaned around the valves similar to deshrouding, by doing this his pressure dropped back down to 135psi which is stock. So by simply increasing the airflow and not increasing the pressure, it's really good gains.

The next cam should be in next week, once installed, the engine will be rolled and the piston to valve clearance will be checked to make sure the heads can be decked more. This next cam should put the torque range in the rpm we want. Not a speed demon but a locomotive.

Bug's rig ran 30-31 with a stage 2 Briggs built by Cody (same mods that pushed my old 1754 tiller to 35) Now, a couple of days ago, Bug's rig was running 30 and holding it, this again is with the 40mm, worked heads, 135psi, and open exhaust. That's speed, I've been in this boat hundreds of times with the old Briggs and it has a much stronger hole shot now than it ever had. I'm confident it will tote a hell of a load.

Here's a video of Bug's, he trimmed up a little after the video and got the rpms to 4400ish and holding just over 30. If it'll push this boat like it does (which I'm sure is over 1100lbs with all his shit in it ) It will really perform on the lighter rigs.

We have one that's almost ready on Buddy's 1754 tiller. It's the same layout as my old one but rounded chine. His rig will be a good test for the average ones out there. Banded's custom hull is in the works and is going to be a real performer as well. Two more are coming into the picture with two more difference scenarios included a 3rd gen lower. It's playing out real nice and testing on many different applications.
