We already have intended to begin a new thread with as much information as possible up front included model/part numbers, decking, cam profiles, etc... We've personally chipped in together for this adventure and will give every opportunity for those interested to do so as well as cheap as possible. Thanks to those up support the challenge of trying something new/different.

For those who think different or who have doubt, we'll try our best to refrain from responding to the lack of evidence or prior experienced knowledge of these engines used in this particular application unless a burden of proof is provided. If this is the case, we will consider the proof and assess it accordingly.

None of ya'll are currently running the gen 3 lower, are ya'll? I'd be interested to see how that torque curve stock, and then if it gets modded, handles that. I'm not a speed guy, but have a specific requirement that it run very shallow even when there isnt much soft mud. I know what I've got and it's weaknesses (and am learning more as i try to get it propped right). The gearing in that new lower has me intrigued, and want to see how it does with the kawa.

Russ, within a month there should be one in operation. The camshaft that Banded installed would prolly shine with that gearing as its designed for a higher rpm range but the stock engine will certainly work well and getting it propped correctly will be the real trick. It will certainly spin a high pitched wheel. I'm turning 13p easily with old gen 2 lower.

Russ, I'll hopefully be running by the end of the month, but sorry brother it won't be stock. Heavy boats for East Texas, 3-4 man hunting loads, and stock motors don't mix, so I'm not even going to bother. I will start out with worked heads and a cam and see where that puts me.

Holy shot Lee, your a "Closet Laywer" too.

But I totally agree. We have gotten together and have spent hours and hours coming up with different ideas on cams, intakes, carbs, jetting, exhausts. Everything is a step in progress. Because it's new, everything has to be a custom product. As of now, Owen will be the first with a G3 lower unit. The good thing about it all is the fact that we all have different hulls. Size and shapes. So this will give us a broader data field as we test and try different things on these different hulls. I all agree it's been fun working on it and there's still more room to go.

Post Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Well fellas, I pretty much tested the limits of my hull as far as weight and the power of the Kawi 37. There was so much weight on the front of my hull that I really didn't think it would float. Backed it down the ramp, and it was like the hull was still strapped to the f'n trailer. It finally started to float when the hull was about 4" from coming over the back. Unhooked the strap and pushed it backwards hoping that at least if it were to go down, the trailer boards would catch it from sinking. Well it slid back and started floating. Here is a pic of the load that I was hauling when I left Preston's.

image.jpg

Well I idles out and my first thought was this bitch was gonna go down like a crank bait. So I decided to ease into it and it started to get on plane. So I said the hell with it. I hammered it. Not only did it get on plane, this bitch was flat out running with all that shit.

image.jpg

Here is a short video of the run. Had to stand up to see over all that shit

That sir is 4 bundles of Lillie boom. Approx 400' of the shit compliments of the man way the fuck down south with the tin foil hat. Lol. That shit took three of us to load 1 bundle in my hull. We had 4. Not sure exactly the weight but it was definately testing the limits of my buoyancy.

I know it's foam, has some steel cables running through it, metal plates to connect together. Not sure exactly, but I do know I could barely roll them out of my boat when I was trying to unload them. Bout sunk the bitch.

Post Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I want to Thank Bug for doing the research and finding a good alternative motor. Also Will and Banded helped me a lot during the swap.

I am swapping from a Stage 2 briggs to a Stage 1 Kawi ( Decked Heads, Port and Polish, 42 Mikuni, and a stock Kawi exhaust).

I made the first test run last Friday night 9/5 and only made a couple of short runs. The boat held strong a 28 MPH @ 4200 RPMS.

This weekend I put a few more hours on it and it runs strong. Holding a strong upper 28s low 29 in any water depth. In shallow water it holds high 29s, and highest I have seen is 30.6 MPH. This motor likes to be trimmed lower and turns about 3950-4000 RPMs.

All test runs this weekend are with my fishing load. 24 volt trolling motor set up, 28 quart drink cooler, 50 something quart Coleman extreme cooler, fishing tackle, and my big ass.

I am running a abused LC custom Stock pro drive prop that is never been a speed prop. The best speeds I saw with an empty boat and my Stage 2 briggs was 32 MPH. With the same load above I usually ran 29 - 30 with my Stage 2 briggs.

As of this morning I have 5.6 hours on it.

So far this motor is doing great, and I still have a lot of fine tuning, prop testing, and exhaust work. Bug, Banded, and JeremiahW are all working on a Cam grind at the moment and hopefully more good things to come.

Thanks BUG! I appreciate the help.

Good, now it's time to complete the mods and give it an open exhaust to see what it'll really do. :D

For the record, I wasn't aware anyone was trying to break a MM speed record with the Kawasaki, we're simply exploring other options other than the Briggs. We've already seen them produce better results than the Briggs with milder mods so if someone wanted to build one up, I'm sure they could. But for now, getting a strong, reliable engine to help carry loads and not have to worry about it, is what we're looking for.

As far as proof, there have been many pictures and videos showing the Kawi's do exist on boats and are running which is more than what can be said about others claims...

Once again, try not to mess up this thread and if you dont have anything useful to say, fuck off...

Go get on a lawnmower forum some where and quit being jealous. Everybody is saying that's the only thing that explains your comments and I have to agree.

I'm so f'n sick and tired of hearing about how fast shit goes. How fast does your shit go exactly!!! How fast, all we keep hearing is the baddest f'n MM on the planet. So where is a f'n video of this "BIGFOOT" so called creature of the unknown world. Dude if you enjoy changing f'n case gaskets, and tearing your entire motor apart to change a cam or internals, be my guess. I like the simplicity of the kawi. Pop the top and I can change just about everything internal in about 30 min. Once bolted on the frame, it doesn't have to be pulled. And another f'n thing since you have so willingly graced us with your presence, there is a trail and error period. Some shit works, some doesn't. All these so called "master mechanics" did was copy someone elses work. All they did was buy bolt on shit and didn't put forth the first f'n R&D minute. This engine is new to the MM world. Even if I don't get another MPH out of it, this sucker will tote an elephant and runs 33.2 mph. Plenty fast for me but the load carrying capacity is where its at. Cuz during hunting or fishing season, the boat is never empty. Peace out.
