 Re: IM heads
Sure....knock yourself out. A good 3-angle value job and new stainless valves will help most all these motors. Deck 'em however you want based on your experience with your motor. You do enough of them, you'll most likely find a recipe that you like.
However, $530 + gaskets is actually what Boatdr sells his for (IM are similar I believe). The beauty of them is you can unbolt yours, walk into Andy's shop, throw yours down, write him a check, and walk out with a new set ready to bolt on in 10 minutes. Probably even squeeze in an afternoon ride with 'em if you need to.
They are good heads, with a good all-around performance recipe that will serve you well. I run them on my motor and have 120+ hours on them with no complaints.
But those are the cheap ones! I've run beside motors with ported and polished decked heads with matching intakes, tuned to match the motor they're mounted on, that cost $800+, from guys like Cody and Jamie, and the freaking difference is real.
So, sure most any machine shop can get you started in the right direction.....but you'll eventually see the value in the experience of the guys around here who deal with these briggs blocks on a daily basis and know how to squeeze a little extra out of them.

 Re: IM heads
To get them decked in a CNC it is 100$ unless you got 6 or 7 sets to do at once it's the minimum for most due to set up time and these days if folks don't make money they don't work nothing is free shops have overhead it is what it is lol

 Re: IM heads
I had a set of heads P&P and 3 angle valve job done for $160 at a local ARCA racing shop. If I would have had a set of stainless valves on hand for them to install at that time it, there would have been no additional charge. Decking would have added another $75.
Another set of heads from a different source were decked .055, P&P, and a 5 angle valve job, these cost me $475. If stainless valves were installed, the cost of the valves would have brought the prices up some on both sets.
