Haha I'm not in any financial position to try it I just know that's the Briggs computer hasn't been cracked yet to allowed modifications so I thought this could be a solution

I made a phone call to Briggs yesterday while driving between jobs and got a little info. regarding their EFI. Now, take it for what it is I have no way to confirm nor deny it but maybe it will help.

The technician I finally got ahold of was familiar with the Briggs application on surface drives, what I asked them was did they use a sensor on the intake (MAP, MAF, etc) or just an o2 on the exhaust side, mainly because I wanted to know whether the Briggs EFI could compensate for head work or if it would just be more air and the same fuel resulting in running lean.

His answer was that on the "marine" version of the 37 EFI they dont use a 02 on the exhaust because of the wet environment. The Briggs EFI does use a MAP sensor on the intake to measure are and regulate fuel.

As a side note, he made sure to say that the system cannot be tuned to accomodate that, however he alluded to that it probably wouldnt be long before someone "cracked" the system and was able to do so. He also made sure to mention that if someone were to do port and polish, valves, decking, etc. that it would probably make the engine less efficient because "it was tuned and designed for stock".

Dont know if that helps anyone, I would think that looking at one you could easily confirm what sensors and their placement. Take it for what its worth, i just thought i would pass it on.

good info Mike - I would think by using the O2 sensor it would help regulate the fuel mixture better

Im no expert on these engines by any means and i know there are a lot of people on this forum working and testing this right now BUT...in my experience with car engines and drag racing, if you can measure air in you should be able to increase flow and the fuel injection will compensate thus meaning more power. That being said, while i thought it was covering their ass and trying to get people not to modify the engines, there may be some truth to what the guy said about being less efficient...IF the modified heads were to flow enough CFM of air to completely go outside the parameters of the EFI programming, that may cause issues.

When someone comes out with mods please post on here. I'm patiently waiting on mods because I want to turn mine up!

If you have one of these in your possession post up some photos of the injection system, sensors, etc so we can get a good look at what's going on.
