Options are limitless

Do you want low profile, no snag?
Is cost a factor?
Adjustable?
Three dot?
Dot over dot?
Blank rear, dot front?

I prefer three dot sights personally. I've tried a number of the combinations and it just works better for me. Blank rear and dot front isn't bad either. It allows for VERY fast front sight pick up. But not as easy to line up the tops in the dark because of no lamps in the rear sight. A company called XS sight systems makes a dot over dot sight called a Big Dot that is really fast, but not too great for precision shooting.

The thing to keep in mind with 1911s is that all of the sight cuts for the front and rear are different and sometimes proprietary. So, you need to be aware of that.

Fiber optic is also an option, but not a big fan of them. Not as bright as tritium in the dark to me. But they are cheaper.

It's just a 9mm 1911 but not going to be a carry pistol. It's my first 1911. I want it for just having somethin to shoot and enjoy at a lower cost. Cost isn't as big of a factor because I won the gun. I need some guidance. I'm pretty sure id like three dot tritium but no idea on brand or make..

If you don't plan on carrying it or even potentially using it for self defense, I don't know that I'd bother with the cost of night sights. Especially if you end up having to get the slide machined. Not knowing what brand of 1911, no way of knowing what sight cut it has on the rear or the front if it even has a machined front sight dovetail or staked on.

Night sights, good ones anyway, are not cheap at all. Minimum is around $70 for front and rear. Average is $100 or more. Plus the cost of installation, assuming you don't have a sight pusher. They can be drifted with a delrin or brass punch, but 9 times out of 10 people fuck that up way before ever getting it right.

Most gun shops can at least install sights though. Find one with someone that knows 1911s though. They are quite particular pistols to be honest and a good 1911 gun smith is worth their weight in gold. One of the many reasons I quit shooting them. No standardization at all anymore with them.

If you're going to carry it for self defense then don't waist the money.
Trust me you won't use the sights in a defense situation.

If you do a "proper push out" to someone 2' away you just gave them your gun.

In a real world situation you may not get the chance to push out.

Have either of you two ever BEEN IN that situation??? Sounds like a bunch of mall ninja infomercial BS...

I'm telling you I have. I've drawn my weapon on another human and it's not something you can reherse. Every situation is different, every shooter is different. The bottom line is that it all comes down to your instinct and your reaction time wether you live or die. Training helps but when the SHTF, all the muscle memory in the world will sometimes get in your way, or fail you all together.... I've seen it both ways. When it comes down to it, putting time and distance between you and and the threat is what often makes the difference.

How about answering the dudes question and moving along.....
