I recently purchased a rig from a renowned member on here. the whole rig is a 2014 model but the motor has 500 hours on it. I have been researching and from what i can tell it seems pretty uncommon for a motor to reach such high hours let alone a motor that is only a year old. Im not saying im unhappy because the motor is solid and runs like a top it just seemed unrealistic to me but i am new to all this.

If you take care of these motors they last way longer than 500 hours. My boy has almost 3000 hours on his 2006 GTR. Coco has motors at his Go Devil shop sometimes that has more than that.

I have had horizontal Briggs, Honda and Kohlers on work equipment. Had a Honda with well over 3k hours and no issues. Don't sweat it.

Just gotta think of it like a piece of machinery. If it's a tool, you're gonna put hours on it. The upside is, if your living is pinned on it, you're gonna maintain it as best you can.

I put 200 on mine the first 6 months i had it just screwing around out in the marsh lol. I've always been under the impression that these are 1000hr motors but i don't know how true that is

My motor is an 06 and has 250 hours . Buyers think 250 is a lot. that's nothing on a mud motor . If anything an 06 with 250 hours is pretty damn low. Long as the motor has ben well taken care of its fine ! Enjoy it now , don't fret over it . Just take care of it and stay ontop of the routine maintenance . Congrats on the new boat.

mine's just a little ole 16 hp longtail. But i had a tad over 1600 hrs on my original engine when it let loose on me. 1600 hrs is nothing though.. the impressive part is that the original exhaust lasted 850 hrs before finally cracking haha. after that one i went through 3 more before i replaced the powerhead. new motor only has 85 hrs on it, but no issues.

Ive put a littlw iver 200 since june
