There considered a big time pest in louisiana. But that much meat is a lot of shooting. Throw a price per pound and you might get what you need.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
You might wanna get with a trapper. Although very few are left that make a living doing it (just nuisance trappers mainly) they often have left over beaver, coyote, coon, etc carcasses left over. Most have a decent walk in freezer that can hold the amount your looking for by the end of trapping season.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
cut canals all through the marsh and wonder why there's salt intrusion and erosion. introduce nutria for trapping, wonder why they go apeshit and destroy everything. THEN put a limit on an invesive non-native species. Build cities on floodplains that are made of soil that decomposes and subsides every year, levee that shit off so it isnt replenished by the annual floods and wonder why the land sinks.
I rest my case.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
Buying a mud motor company that isn't worth a shit , insulting possible future clients, Making claims a Dixie goes 41 mph ! Lol I win !!!! You do know the Nutria were not intentionally released into the wild for trapping right ?

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
Nutria Population Dynamics – A Timeline
1930s –
Imported from fur farms, nutria were released, either intentionally or accidentally, in the Louisiana marshes in the 1930s, and soon after, feral populations were established near the Gulf Coast. Nutria continued to expand their range from there as they were trapped and transplanted into marshes from Port Arthur, Texas to the Mississippi River in 1941. Later that year, a hurricane further dispersed nutria populations in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.
Late 1940s –
In the late 1940s, nutria were promoted as biological agents for controlling aquatic weeds, primarily water hyacinth, and were transplanted throughout southeastern Louisiana. Rapid population growth followed for several years thereafter. Annual pelt harvest records and damage reports were the primary source of information on population dynamics at that time.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
Wonder how long it will take them to spread throughout the southern United States. Nobody believed me when I was a kid in the early 90s and saw an armadillo on my granddads pasture. Now the population of armadillos in Georgia is out of control.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
Getchasum...years ago, my dad bought the animals from all the local trappers. The carcasses were gutted, tail, teeth, and feet chopped off and then ground up in a big ass grinder. The ground meat came out the machine and fell into 70lb bags which were then frozen and sold to the local gator farms. My family has not dealt with the fur business in quite a few years, but i believe that big ass grinder might still be around in my uncle's shed. If u would be interested in it, i can find out for sure. also, if i had to feed a few hundred gators, i would look into areas where those invasive jumping carp are thick and offer a price per hundred pounds. Bowfishermen normally just dump or bury hundreds of pounds at a time.

 Re: Looking to buy nutria
All u have to do for the carp is go in the spill way at night with some lights. They literally jump in the boat. I recommend wearing football pads and a helmet. If you go this route.
