Post Re: My experience with Prodigy Boats
I hate to tell break to you fellas, we can keep up the witch hunt for "what ifs" but when it comes down to it, he knew there was a problem with the paint. When I called it wasn't a shock to him. He said get through the season and I'll fix it. I got it back and had bare metal spots around the gator glide line. Some are a little under the size of a dime. Some not that big. Still was there for six weeks and some of the issues are still there. I know it's not going to stay perfect, I understand that it's a mud boat. I asked him this: What if when you bought that new truck you have, and the dealership said heres some touch up paint for that bare metal showing. Just take care of that because we tried and just can't get it apparently. His response was: My door handles on my truck are chipped and I still didn't take it back to the dealer.

You can't really hate on the six weeks. It would have been less if you drove, dropped it off and drove and picked it up. That is something to think about when ordering a boat from out of state. If I have an issue with my PD boat, I am going to call him and bring it over to be fixed. Nobody other than them and I would know about it. I always prefer to handle my business professionally and man to man. You get better results that say. Especially when you know the end result is the builder is trying to do the best for you. None of those guys want to lose tour business. Treat them with respect and they will go above and beyond for you.

A lot of folks use soft pipe for spuds so they will bend easily.. Personally I don't like when they bend so easy so we use 6061. I know of 3 folks that have had issues w our current design out of a pile of boats. We have recently changed and added more support so there is no way it can happen again..

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1427411075.116373.jpg

Example of a broken one...

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1427411111.613346.jpg

Example of one w extra support

Again... I hate messed up shit and we do try our best to avoid messed up shit.

We also don't paint the bottom of the boats do that's why there is no paint there. We just like any new business have had a few issues here and there. I'm sure many of you own your own business and can understand. It is hard to stay perfect.. It actually isn't possible.

We apologize for disappointing you and wish you the best.

That's the picture of the one that broke off with wave movement and walking in the boat. Do you have a pic of the one I broke? My phone went swimming and I didn't back up my photos.

In my experience from buying lots of shit over the years... And dealing with companies who have been around for decades... It's not always the product you provide that sets you apart. As long as what you put out is quality and serviceable that part will take care of itself... How you take care of your people and customers is what makes repeat business and what keeps you alive for the long haul. I have been in the market for several months and contacted Chad about a build. He handled himself like a businessman and gave me what I asked for. I ended up going another direction for other unrelated reasons but when I'm in the market in the future, Prodigy will get a shot again for sure. You can't avoid unsatified people or someone who's just out to grind an axe, it's how you handle them that sets you apart.

Sounds like Chad did what he could do for you. I'd take it as a lesson learned for both parties ;)

I pulled the pole up let it ride in the holder to bump up in the blind some more. It fell down when I bumped it and snapped. I take responsibility for the first one but that picture is the one of the wave and walking around. My buddy Jeff can speak for the one you showed a picture of. That one was Mother Nature and about 600lbs in the boat.

Because this guy is trying to make a living making boats. Crap like this can seriously hurt a company. I work in the service industry myself and understand what social media can do. I don't want to see him lose a future sale over this crap. Especially when he is a sponsor on here and helps keep this site running.

this happens to be the only person I've ever seen say something bad about chad.

did you really think coming on mmt to bad mouth him was going to help you? it just makes you look like a terrible customer, and sometimes thats what the problem really is.

i don't own a prodigy, I'm a Gator trax guy, but most of his customers say nothing but great things about him and his product. his dealer down here also has nothing but great things to say as well.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I haven't fabricated the truth on anything on here. If so I will listen to what I'm off base on. It's ok for people to tell their stories on different brand motors or voice their frustrations, but we can't say anything about certain boat manufactures? Then don't ever complain about any mud motor, you will be a terrible customer.

I don't own a prodigy but talked to Chad about one and he was very helpful. I also asked some other questions that didn't pertain to a build and he was very helpful again. It sucks having problems but it seems he has tried to make right.

In other news, the paint on my Gator-Tail boat has come off in several areas. Think they'll fix mine for free or send a truck to pick it up?

Nice idea with the pvc. If they break , no real loss. Plus you may not get stuck there trying to pull he bent pole out.

Post Re: My experience with Prodigy Boats
First of all, to clarify, are you saying the bottom picture of the 2 chad posted is one of your broken spud holders? Cause that's obviously ripped metal no even close to a weld with no penetration coming off.

Im having a prodigy built now and my experience has been great like many on here. While I hope the paint in my rig doesn't have issues I've painted many cars (including a $300k+ show car that was in Riddler row a couple years ago) and let me tell you stuff happens with paint. As someone spending A LOT of money with him, after reading chads responses on here and knowing as a business owner you just can't make everyone happy no matter what you do I'm still comfortable with where my hard earned money is going.

Stuff happens but if someone admits, improves upon it, and offer to make it right and remains professional despite a public bashing like you have put on here what more can you ask for? Hopefully the positives brought out in this thread will help chad more than hurt because as others have said I dunno what you expected to accomplish but chad still offering to make it right after that speaks volumes IMO.

Call it kool aid call it whatever but just my opinion. Granted, i hope i have no issuea with my boat and im sure it would be frustrating as hell if you do all.someone can do is their best to make it right...sometimes its never good enough. Hell I've had to call the police because of threats from customers because the price of their car wash went up $1 and I offered to give them a free wash to prove its worth it lol

Weld didn't penetrate on the pipe on that one, when it broke loose the movement of the waves caused the metal to tear like a piece of paper. Take another look. The first one the weld broke off clean on the transom. No tearing metal. That why I asked if he had a pic of the first one.
