 37 EFI GDSD speed update
Everyone seemed real interested in the speed of my new rig, ran it yesterday for a couple hours, it did better than I expected.
Deep water, middle of the Angelina river (about 25ft) 3950 RPM, held 27.5 running with the current, right at 27 against the current. It did bump 30.0 one time at the forks of the Angelina and Neches rivers but the current there was kinda crazy with everything draining from the woods into the rivers. It ran up there and settled back down slowly to about 27 again. So that's what I'll call it lol.
This was with me, my wife, and my 2yr old. We had the top up, don't know if that made a difference in wind drag. We did come across a couple fairly shallow places (less than 5ft) and I could feel the boat flatten out a bit and pick up some speed. I honestly didn't run it at WOT much or really trim on it a whole lot. I stopped just short of 4000RPM. There may be more speed to be had, or it may fall off any higher than its set now.
The attached pic is how we ran it most all day. I've got fair-skinned girls, the top is going to be a life-saver this summer.

Good speeds with all that you mentioned. I'm sure that Bimini is holding you back a little bit. Did you get the Bimini from Go-Devil?

very nice - I love the drop top, I don't think you need to be fair skinned to fully appreciate that option

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
Ready to see someone review the 37 longtail. Think this fall I'll be putting this SD on my 16 48 gdsd sure it will fly. Still not sure if I want to go that route compared to the carb model tho.

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
Ran it today solo, top down and did 28-29 the whole ride, deep water. 4000-4100rpm. It may have more but that's probably where I'll run it. Worked well in vegetation and open water trimmed there. No mud to speak of. Still flooded.
Thoroughly impressed with the EFI. Idles about 750-775 and transitions are smooth all through the rev range. Limiter is at 4750. Bumped it once when it blew out of some heavy hyacinth but it wasn't violent, and the motor was still pretty smooth even then. I'm happy I made the upgrade.
I bought the bimini top used from a member here. It was on a 54 or 56 wide boat and it lays perfectly inside the gunnels on this 60" boat. The bend in the tiller handle fits over it perfectly when it's stowed. I can push it all the way down and it doesn't touch it. Plenty out of my way running the boat.

I am buying one of those tops from Cabelas for my new rig. Will make crabbing trips much more pleasant.

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
Thanks fellas. I'm more than happy with it.
The top is nice and can be removed real easily. I'll probably leave it on the boat the majority of the time except during hunting season. It only weighs a few pounds.
Got most of my hydroturf cut out this afternoon. I still have to glue it in. Looks like I'll have enough with 5 sheets to do the boat. I'll probably order one more to do my poling platform and inside the storage boxes.

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
Good looking rig and nice speeds ! Wonder if they make a Bimini yo tall enough for a console rig. Nice lay out as well !

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
I may cut some spacers out of aluminum blocks to space this one up a little bit. I can't walk under it or stand up and drive while its up. It's not a big deal though. It's nice to sit and drive for a change. They make them tall enough to clear a CC but they are not typically as long as mine from what I've seen, and cover less of the boat. I wanted this one low enough to give good shade and not be too far up in the air while running. There are a few bridges I can still go under with it up. It's tight though lol. The idea is for the kid to be able to play in the floor of the boat in the shade while daddy fishes main reason for the turf too. I believe this one was purchased originally from iboats.com. It's pretty good quality.

Good looking rig. One thing you can say about Coco. He is true to his pattern. His reverse and neutral hasn't changed yet.

Re: 37 EFI GDSD speed update
That is a fine looking rig that will give you many years of trouble free service. prodrivinggatortail has pointed out something that I consider very important. I have a GD longtail I bought new in 1988. The neutral and reverse, both, function just as well today as when it was delivered. They have required zero maintenance in all those years.
