 Motor Help- Bowfishing-
What motor should i get for my 1544 riveted flat bottom boat? it is a bow fishing boat so there is a lot of weight in it and going to get pods welded to the back to lift the back end up. Surface drive or Long Tail got about 1800$ to spend.

 Re: Motor Help- Bowfishing-
Get a used outboard for that boat and price range in all honesty. Carrying a bunch of weight in that small hull isn't going to work with any kind of mud motor.

 Re: Motor Help- Bowfishing-
A 23hp Backwater on a 15' boat is a ton of fun, drives smooth and can handle rocks, and weeds. I see used 16-23 hp's on Craigslist often enough and close to your budget. If you have to save up a little longer for something bigger, you'll be better off than if you spend $1800 today only to want something more next year. I originally planned to switch out to my 25hp outboard for the summer and use the Longtail for hunting in the fall. My outboard hasn't left the shed in three years. If you are in MN hit me up and you can take me and my boat bowfishing and see for yourself.
