 Help trim problem!
Been having a problem with my trim not wanting to go down but goes up just fine. Motor is a 2011 mud buddy hyper sport with merc trim. When attempting to trim down I can here something attempting to engage but nothing happens. It sounds like a rotating noise. Sometimes the trim works fine though. Help me please!!

 Re: Help trim problem!
Could be the magnets come unglued inside the pump motor case. Motor will turn inone direction, but when reversed the magnets shift and lock up motor. Thus tripping the breaker. When breaker resets it self and motor is tried again magnets shift enough to allow motor to run. Until the next time. Sounds like a probablem I had on a Mercury trim pump motor. Motor will eventually lock up and won't run either direction. New pump motor From Mercury $123 on Amazon .com #809885A for the exact replacement motor. Good Luck getting any help from MB on this issue, they don't warrant them. Had one fail with under 70 hrs on it.

 Re: Help trim problem!
Here is a step by step way to troubleshoot the Merc Trim. http://www.mudbuddy.com/forum/showthrea ... rcury+trimCommon problems with it trimming one way and not the other is either the trim relays or the switch. Not sure where your trim relays are mounted but find the solid colored green (down) and blue (up) wires coming out of the relays going to the trim motor- they have black waterproof bullet connectors on them. May be tie wrapped up in the wire bundle, the green and blue striped wires are the control wires from the relays to the switch in the tiller. Just swap those two solid colored blue and green connections and see if the problem moves to the other direction. This tells you the switch is not the problem and its probably one of the relays going out.
