 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
Yeap, my buddy used to have one. It would hop light a mother fukker with a light load, or even with someone sitting on the front deck.
Also, the bottom was dented pretty good just after a few weeks, you can see the dents from the trailer bunks.
His insurance replaced it with an alweld, and let him keep the old boat.

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
They make them in .100. Duckwatcher, if I were you I'd shop around. Maybe call barling boat sales in Fort smith. I got my 1648 .100 weldbilt for $2000. They beat everyone else's prices by almost $1000
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
I'm looking at a weldbilt1748 smooth bottom, with the floor plate, a 60" gun box, with split rear seats, a grab bar, shallow water pods, and trailer. I'm already running a stock gtr35 all I need is a bigger boat to haul more bullsh*t in lol

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
I'm pretty new to the mud motor world. So why would I not want the pods?

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
Will a 48 in wide bottom on a 17 ft boat be wide enough to keep the back end of the boat from sitting too low in the water without extra floatation on the rear?

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
Thats not bad at all. The boat I have not had the pods on it when I got it, but I was running a 25 Mercury 4 stroke on it. I switched to the gtr because of all the Sandy rivers around. It felt like it was lacking when I got the mm on it, and the pods would explain why. The best I can get is 25 with just me, and 24 with 2 people.

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
If you still have the pods, I would cut them off!
It should help out with speed.

 Re: Weldbilt smooth bottom boat
Its always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission! Most people here saw me propose to my wife in the mud boat! she loves these boat just as much as I do lol

Does your alweld have a v bottom or flat? And is it smooth bottom or does it have ribs?
