 Leaking seal
New boss h, 12 hrs on motor. Seal starting to leak slowly. Is this common? Is it a bad problem? Do I need to replace immediately? Lower unit oil level appears to be unchanged from purchase. Also does not appear milky.

That's not normal. Carry back to dealer.

 Re: Leaking seal
Is that supposed to be a good thing? I mean, this is my first mm rig and it's been a problem since I got it, something wrong the whole time. I'm used to an out board with 500 plus hrs and not one issue. I just hope this is the last issue for a few hundred hrs

You would think the LU leaks would've been fixed by now...

 Re: Leaking seal
Thanks, I spoke with Kane at boss drives, super nice guy, said they have seen a only very few with this issue and he would contact my local dealer and do what ever he could do to help fix it. I feel confident after speaking with him that the issue will be resolved appropriately.

Good to hear. There customer service seems to be great, that's not the first time I've heard good things about them.

 Re: Leaking seal
My point was....every single make and model has had an issue at one time or another. From this forum to the next. If you want to find the dirt, just read on......mud buddy's leak oil......GDR's catch fire.......Pro Drives throw people out of the boat.......all are "well documented" on an Internet forums.

 Re: Leaking seal
GDR? ........catch fire? first I've ever heard on that one. and unlike some people on here, I have more than 50 posts, been around a little bit. .....
No one thought pandemic when it came up originally. just saying that the same issues have arose before with the SAME motor. And it's just not heard of THAT often since not very many trust those motors still.
No big deal. Got an oil leak, sweet......fix it.... done....... run over shit and have a blast...... leak or other problem........ search internet...... yup happened before..... I can fix it........ thanks for help internet...... going back to running over shit and having fun again........ oh wait seal is leaking again, PANDEMIC!!! quarantine these mother fuckers and go to another brand........... it's simple, all blocks have gasket issues at some point, each frame has its quirks. thanks and please feel free to police what I said so you can raise your post count up.

 Re: Leaking seal
Umm, tyler, those plastic covers and a non death grip on the brake handle has caused numerous fires (gets too hot, plastic cover starts burning after it melts some). It's an easily fixable design, but metal covers cost a little more. You won't see that here because of the koolaid, though while not an epidemic, it's not exactly uncommon lol. I haven't been around here but 2-3 years, but that's one I tend to get a kick out of every time it's mentioned. Everything else you've spoken of I agree with, though.

 Re: Leaking seal
I had nothing but trouble out of my gtr gen 2 reverse, after about eight different sets of pads, and riding back with caliper off multiple times. I received a gen 4 kit and no instructions, it worked ok, but had to shim with washers. They could have just sent me a larger mounting block, but didn't want to. Kool aid is some strong stuff, but didn't know it could impare judgement that much though.

 Re: Leaking seal
GT has had many variations of reverse and belt housings, It is hard to get the customer to give the correct information to then properly send the correct parts. It HAS to work both ways. As with any manufacturer, it takes both parties willing to help to get the correct things going!
