Ran in to a guy at the boat ramp yesterday and he had a 19ft excel f4 with a mb 7000 percent old me with empty boat it would do 40mph. I have a hard time believing this? Anyone have factual experience????

 Re: MB BD 7000
This one running light with Hammer prop turning 4790 RPM will do about 35 MPH on a good day in deep water.

 Re: MB BD 7000
When mine was a 7000 it did 35-36 on a good day with me and the dog. I also have an excel but mines a 1754 F4. I highly doubt he does 40 but who am I to say other wise.

 Re: MB BD 7000
If its a BD 7000, its CDI with a 4700 rev limit. I think the guy is full of it unless he's doing 40 on the Hwy.

 Re: MB BD 7000
Well mine was a 7000. I de tuned it to a 55 mag by putting the single carb on. Way better. Don't have to feather the throttle so much gettin on plane. Single carb planes a load a lot better too. IMO. I wouldn't go back to the duals. But I think strobie is good at tuning the duals in really well so they don't struggle so much on the low end. But I still don't like messing with them. I'll stick to the single until I save enough money for a new efi setup.

 Re: MB BD 7000
I was wondering about that. The reliability of the efi system now worries me some. Just another reason I thought I'd wait a while. The only reason I'm even considering efi down the road is of the ease of warm up on the 20 degree days. But that can be fixed with a little carb adjusting now too.

This one will run right along side my sons F4, and plane out faster. At 4490 with a Hammer Prop and 38/47 gears.
