 Re: Jack Plate???
I tried it on a 14748 with a 27hp Prodrive. It squatted really bad, so I took it off.

 Re: Jack Plate???
Are you thinking of putting it on for a regular OB or a MM?

 Re: Jack Plate???
That motor is already heavily weighted back. I wouldn't want it to be any further back off the transom. Probably cause way more issues than it would solve.

 Re: Jack Plate???
Why would you want to?
What problem are you trying to correct?
There are some threads about it -it has been done, but don't think it has every had any real success. Use the search function (or try thru google using mudmotortalk and your search issue) and read on some of the experiences.
As is the answer to all these questions like this, sure you can do it. Sure the boat will continue to move forward when you apply the gas to the motor, but there is probably a better way to correct your issue.

 Re: Jack Plate???
I put a jack plate on mine because my transom was too short for my motor. All it did was make the back end squat so bad that I still couldn't trim high enough to get my prop where it needed to be. I scrapped the jack plate and built my transom up. I should have saved my money I wasted on the jack plate.

 Re: Jack Plate???
While a jack plate might raise your motor on a short transom, it also increases the setback along with the weight on the back of the boat. Hence, the increased "squat." I know it seems like a shortcut to solve a problem but as you found out, like most shortcuts, you end up paying for it in the end and ultimately have to "do it right."
