Post Making my boat go straight ??
Hey guys I recently bent my skeg on my 35hp Mud buddy hd sport. I bent it back the best I could and got pods put on the boat at the same time. I took it out and the thing poles to the right really bad (boat is turning left) it's not even fun driving it. Today I bent it back some more and it's still bad. Is it the skeg or the pods that would cause this? the skeg looks about rite now i would say. I don't want to keep heating and bending It due to weaking or breaking it.

Its the pods. Pods and SD's don't play well together

Your skeg does need to be bent more, and you do need to cut off the pods.
Also, you don't have to heat the skeg to bend it, just get a big wrench and bend it a little at a time until the tiller torque is gone.
Mudbuddy skegs are easy to adjust.

That skeg needs more bend for sure. The pods probably aren't causing you to pull to one side. They may be hurting performance, but that skeg isn't bent enough even without the pods.

It's hard to see in those pictures the way they loaded but it looks like the left pod has a crook in it. Looks like it hooks down towards the back which can act like a brake on that side and make it pull.

You guys are correct they both point down, but the left one points down more. That explains it all. And the 2mph loss with pods

As stated, pods and a surface drive are not a good fit.

That said, if you have pods on any boat you want them tapered up slightly. Away from the boat.

The pods shouldn't really even be in the water when on plane.

Otherwise they are working against you.

What was the purpose of putting pods on?

I put pods on for motor weight, I had an 18hp mud buddy on it and could go 2x more places/shallower water

With pods At slow speeds you can go 2x more places. But on plane you can go the same places you would go with or without pods
