Rice has been on fire here in Texas... Ponds nearby get some groups but it was slow Sunday. Opening weekend shot limits.

I killed 6 Teal in the first 5 mornings of the season and just about gave up.
We had 2 nights with a full moon in a row. Went walk to my pond that afternoon and saw a couple hundred teal in there. Quietly left and went home. The next morning the teal were there and so were we. Slammed em!

It was a good start, hunted two Saturday mornings because of work, then Thursday and Sunday on teal this week . Closed it out today with a good bang. Thank The Lord for rice fields.

If it weren't for the early Canada geese the season would've been pretty piss poor for us. We had high water all month long. With no mud flats or feed we couldn't pay a teal to stick around.

I didn't even bother going. I didn't see anything on Lake Okeechobee to pull me away from the early morning bass bite. There were some small flocks on the southeast end, but not worth the ride and risk to have my vehicle jacked with. I had a buddy shoot a few woodies and a few teal. I don't really fool with the early season because it is miserable and very hit and miss.

Yep... in Florida it is legal. It was odd that only woodies showed up when they were legal... not teal. The when woodies went out it was only teal and no shows with the woodies.

I guess in Louisiana you can't take woodies in early season?

There's usually a line in baton rouge at wildlife and fisheries for the woodie tags, bryce. They only sell 100 online and you have to have gotten the letter.

We shot up my 100 tags and then some during teal season. Hope i can go through my 500 mallard tags just as easy this year. Anybody got a pintail tag or 2 they want to trade? I still havent drawn one.

We don't have woodies around here this early. Just a bunch of blue wing, some green wing, maybe a cinnamon, and a few painted teal. :)
