GTR vs PD results
Some time back I posted saying that I would soon be in the market to purchase a surface drive/boat motor package and received a significant amount of valuable info from the post. Well after the feed back I received I continued doing my own homework comparing the hauls and motors to each other weighing out the cons and pros (mainly Gtr and prodrives) between packages. About 2 weeks ago I finally went on a few test drives with the Gator tail and Pro Drive 1854's with the 37efi motors. The conclusion I came up with myself from my homework and the feed back I received showed a positive correlation as to which boat I thought would out perform when I went for test drives.
In my opinion the Gator Tail our performed the Pro Drive in pretty much all aspects. I am a very attention to detail person and I am not saying that Pro Drive builds boats that hinder performance at all, they are honestly both great boat companies and its evident why they are leaders in the surface drive industry. They were a few things I did find nice about the haul of the Pro Drive over the Gator Tail, however they were just personal cosmetic personal preferences. I really did like how the support beams running through Gator Tails haul were overplayed with aluminum compared to how you could see the beams on the Pro Drives.
One of my favorite things about the Gator Tails motor is that it is belt driven, I really think the engineering behind building the motor around a belt driven system is much more efficient and makes the motor lighter. There is no need for gear driven motors on surface drives for the amount of toque they produce and ultimately the amount of work they have to accomplish (unbalanced force needed to drive propel the boat) to achieve desired velocity and ultimately maintain integrity under surface drive conditions; besides belts are continuous improving, but unfortunately it is very costly to reduce the weight of gears.
Another major advantage I think the Gator Tail has over the Pro Drive is the skeg, again better engineering done by Gator Tail. I feel as the angle of the skeg of the Pro Drive, although does create less resistance than the Gator Tails, is so minute that its doesn't even factor into how much the angle causes a problem with the motor not being able to run efficiently.
Like I said they are both very great boats build by two of the leading companies in the industry and the things that matter to me might not even remotely apply to majority individuals. I just know this is a hot topic for debate and am trying to help many of the same people who were in the same situation I was in when trying to determine the deciding factor for which boat to purchase. I hope this forum helps someone likes it helped me, Thanks everyone!

I am having a substantially difficult time distinguishing where you issue you of comprehension is in the post. If you could please further illustrate the subject you are having difficulty with, then maybe I can further assist you to try and eradicate this dilemma.

I am terribly sorry about that, my internet has been a little on the slow side lately and I also do not log on to this website often. You seem to be a little upset about the post, I am only speaking of my personal opinion.

Re: GTR vs PD results
Indeed I am a "rookie'', however I would call myself a newbie because a rookie often refers to recruits. I am not trying to be a professional in the surface drive industry, simply just trying to buy a decent package and leave it completely stock. If one of you arrogant surface drive masters, that keep hammering this post with negativity. Could possible provide me with useful information as to why which boat is better, it would be greatly appreciated. After all this post was for "rookies" who are interested in also buying a surface drive and is in the same dilemma I was in. It was simply stating the major differences I found between the two packages, however my option is subject to change from experienced boat owners.

Re: GTR vs PD results
Considering how well you formulate sentences, it baffles me that you can't spell hull correctly.
Also, nobody can tell you which one is better. It's all about personal preference.

Re: GTR vs PD results
I am terrible sorry for the incorrectly used homophones, it was never brought my attention that this site required academic written post in MLA style. In the future I will make sure to proof read over my post and print it out for peer review, that way we can try to allocate less attention to grammar. Besides, before today I never really knew that correctly structuring sentences and correct spelling even had a correlation.

Re: GTR vs PD results
lol damn that is a good thing, because all my college english professors loved MLA. If they weren't lenient, I might have had to take some more academic writing classes and the good lord knows Im not interested in any more of those!

Re: GTR vs PD results
It wouldn't have been mentioned had you not pointed out your attention to detail. When you make an obviously biased review without pointing out the flipside (the advantages of the other motor), mention your greatness at evaluating things, then play the martyr when you get heckled, some of us tend to question the motives of your "attempt" to help others. Seems like you've just had a taste of the kool-aid and liked it. Nothing wrong with having your opinion, but actual facts show it's not head and shoulders a better engineering feat or combination of ideas by any means than the prodrive. By the way, your college education has no place on an Internet forum. It's useless here. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES]
