We donate to an organization called GCLA.
Not sure if it still is or not, but at one point it was just a one man show, so the majority of the funds donated to them make their way back to the cause. When we first started, he was actually employed by the state so GCLA had nobody on an actual payroll. There's a board of volunteers and stuff, but they didn't have an actual staff. That's why it was suggested we choose this organization to donate our funds to.
They run a greenhouse on the lake that grows weevils to eat the giant salvina on one side and they run studies on other invasive plants on the other side. Basically we're donating money to help them fight off the invasive species that are taking over the lake. Water hyacinth, alligator grass, hydrilla, and our biggest problem right now, Giant Salvinia.
Here's a link to their website. They work closely with several other organizations and get some funding and a lot of help from the Caddo Lake Institute.
