Gator Tail Brake Fluid Type Change
Does anyone know when Gator Tail changed brake fluid types? What model?
I watched a video where Hoyt said to refill the caliper with DOT3 but the latest manuals are saying DOT5.
DOT5 is silicone based and hydrophobic so it doesn't absorb water like dot 3 and dot 4 do, but they don't like to play nice together when mixed.
My motor is a 2013 and didn't know what they put in there in 2013. My gut tells me to go with DOT5 because it is much better for that type of environment, but I didn't want to completely flush and start over if it was going to cause problems.
Thought I'd ask here to see if any of you guys happened to know.
Thanks, Chris

Re: Gator Tail Brake Fluid Type Change
Anyone know what type of brake fluid was used in 2013 for the GTR reverse brake system?

Dot 3, dot 5 doesn't work in the old calipers well

Re: Gator Tail Brake Fluid Type Change
Thanks...I picked up a new bottle. I've got some air in the system and need to bleed it and figured I'd do good to flush most of the old through anyway since it is a four years old.
