Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrictions
Below is a link on the parish property land permit. Having to pay to hunt public land that people’s taxes already pay is kind of stupid but it’s not the end of the world. In the article councilman Edgecomb, the one that spear headed this, said he is working on an ordinance restricting mud boats stating they are tearing up the marsh. This is potentially bad for hunters and the local economy. There are a lot of people that hunt that land and spend lots of money going down there to do so. I Have heard from more than one person that they believe he is working on banning mud motors and they believe it will pass before this years big duck season. Sportsman’s paradise is trying their hardest to keep sportsman away. H http://www.louisianasportsman.com/details.php?id=12428

Just invested in a new gatortail to hunt that area. Does this have any real teeth or do they just want their 13 pieces of silver from me to go on someone else’s land with my motor

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
No way it’s a financial deal. I can’t see $50 per hunter helping out very much. But if it’s against MMs I feel like that is a pretty weak stab at the MM world. If you wanna restrict MMs, just have certain areas they can run and be done with it

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
The permit has passed but the MM restrictions are a very strong possibility and we should hear somthing soon. As stated above, who knows how hardcore they win be enforced when there are 100 boats hunting the land but these new ordinances are legit and could carry fines if caught. We shall she how this plays out, I have seen only one person, land owner down there, that is for the new rules.

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
I love the line that it is an agreement not a permit.
Right. I am agreeing to pay you 250 and you will permit me to use my boat. Got it. It’s an agreement.
Hold harmless? Has a sportsman ever sued the parish for getting hurt in the marsh. When I got stuck, should I have called Morris Bart and not my boys?

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
I like how it's only for duck/deer hunters and not for any fisherman. that's bull@#$%. let them kayakers have to buy it as well as a duck hunter.
and another thing....
the wax will do the same thing in a heartbeat. and people who fish marsh island, or any public land in the state for that matter. lakes will do it too eventually. hunter/fisherman, we are all going to be subject to this idiocracy eventually.
this is what happens when u let t-boys nephew hold public office.
right now they are just making hunters pay. sort of a 'just the tip' method of implementation. then it will be for fishermen, then for anybody who enters into Plaquimine parish. Fuck all them inbred mfers over there, I hope the next hurricane floods them and i'll be got-dayeemed if I go fish them out with my prodrive rig like I did for Katrina. they are dead to me.

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
Just the tip. That’s exactly right.
What I am predicting is they keep it for the public land only then Watch the lease holders raise their rates double that because they know you and I don’t want to hunt around the yahoos that fly around for the sake of YouTube and no other reason to begin with. Because t-boy is going to get his both ways.
You know I went run to my lease and noticed I lost 20 ft of marsh from my PVc marker last year at one point. I know it’s got everything to do with the 20 hunts I made in my boat. Yeah right

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
it's only an opinion, just like everybody else's. lol I just don't want to be silent and let them azzhats get away with it without hearing it.
unless you are actually on schoolboard proberty, it's no biggie, but the mudmotor ban is complete bs.
it's the same thing as gun control. guns don't kill people, people kill people. mud motors don't ruin duck hunting, people driving mud motors like idiots ruins duck hunting.

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
Similar thing happened where I used to leave. Local city claimed to have jurisdiction across the infra coastal because of a fire hydrant or something. They made a noise ordinance that in essence restricted duck hunting all the way down the marsh because a bunch of snowbirds from New Jersey didn’t like it.
The state and feds didn’t care and refused to enforce the ordinance, and the city didn’t have a boat to go to the marsh to ticket you. Ever hunter just used the next ramp 1/4 mile down so the city police couldn’t ever write a ticket for you hunting “in the city”
Just stupid....

I was wondering about the wlf enforcement part of a local “agreement”.
They have a better chance of enforcing a gulp ban.

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
Public land is for the public.. There are pros and cons. If the parish owns it.... its still public as the public pays taxes already to use that.

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
I understand that. My point is that it is strictly for this land, not ALL public land like LA sportsman wants you to think.
And again, this never would have happened if it wasnt for douchebags in mud boats causing chaos

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
I'm no lawyer, but this is totally unconstitutional if they mean by "non-resident" someone who does not live in the parish.
"Ordinance 18-41 requires parish residents to pay $50 annually, while non-residents will pay $250; councilman says regulation should be in place for duck season in November"

Re: Plaquemines parish permit and possible mud boat restrict
Does anyone know what happened at the meeting last week? Is this a done deal? From what I can make out from the ordinance you have to sign an agreement but the only fees I could find was a fee for a map. We come down for a week every year but for an extra 250 a person we will find somewhere else to go.

How do you know that said “douche” hunter didn’t find it before the lazy pos that “holds” spots with lights and decoys weeks before?
