Difference in Performance
I am considering replacing my Pro Drive 37 CDI power head which has 40 hours on a rebuild with Delta's Level 3 build with the Pro Drive 40 EFI. I know this is insane- but I've been called worse! What is the difference in performance between these two motors? From the speeds I am seeing posted, it doesn't sound like there is a big loss in power. BUT- I've been around long enough not to trust these numbers so I am curious to hear from people who owned something similar to my build and switched to the 40 EFI.
When I say Delta Level III I am including:
Delta Heads and Cam Mikuni Carb BPS Rockers and Push Rods High RPM Colis BPS Q Exhaust

Re: Difference in Performance
I just went from a level 3 to a 40 and I lost 1.5 or so mph and I can’t snap on plane in 2 boat lengths with 3 guys in the boat like I could with my modded motor. I am impressed with the 40 but it isn’t as impressive as a motor with a new cam!

Re: Difference in Performance
In my 40 GTR with exhaust and a few small upgrades, none of my "level 3" buddy's can pass me. Maybe it's the hull I'm running but my boat doesn't rarely get passed up

Re: Difference in Performance
I said my buddy can pass me up, what I meant to say was "can't". Baggy can get more performance out of your prop for sure man. I run 28-29 with 4 people, dog, and full hunt load with my 2 blade

Re: Difference in Performance
Modded CDI or non cdi trumps 40 efi all day, any day, don't care. The 40 is nothing more that a few things here or there but has a better stock profile cam.
Keep the modded block. You'll never recoup your money to make it worth wild.

Re: Difference in Performance
Nope sure haven't man, just this 40. Maybe it's the boy, but either way, I am happy with it and get the performance I was hoping to get out of it
