 Marine Paint vs House Paint
I recently that regular exterior house paint works just as well as the specialized marine hull paints even though it can be a quarter of the price. Will someone please compare and contrast the differences between the two lines. Can I use house paint on a boat that will only be used in fresh water? Thanks.

Re: Marine Paint vs House Paint
I have no experience in trying both, but I will say that the sherwin williams kem400 when applied properly is night and day "harder" than any household paint Ive ever been around.
I wouldnt risk it, no matter the cost. I want to say that a gallon of primer and paint was under 200, and thats more than enough to do a boat

Not sure there is really that much of a price difference. I used the paint from reelfootcustomcamo specifically for aluminum boats. At $59.00 a gallon, house paint really isn’t much cheaper and not worth the risk.

I've used vida paint several times with great results. One paint job is 8 years old with several thousand hours on it. Cant beat it at 29 bucks a gallon

Duralux and don't look back. Clean aluminum, wipe down with acetone, let dry, paint. Very easy.
