Deer Hunting Angelina National Forest (Sam Rayburn Lake TX.)
I just committed to a water front RV lot on Sam Rayburn lake at Plum Ridge. The main reason I got the lot was for summer camping trips with the family but I'm also interested in deer hunting the National Forest in that area. Does anyone on here have any experience hunting the National forest around Sam Rayburn Lake?

My family and I have hunted ANF for a long time. Deer never get big because of the local poachers. Just like with anything public you will be fighting the norms that hunt the area. Dont be surprised if your stand gets torn down or stolen, or your truck windows knocked out. But Good luck

I did year before last, you got to be in the right spot for sure on Rayburn. We got lucky one morning and killed 5 mallards and about 10 teal. They just wanted where we were at. Went back 3 more times and i think i killed 6 total birds the last 3 times. Now thats the south end of the lake, i don't know what it's like at the north end.

Duck hunting on Rayburn sucks! More hunters than ducks...and it only gets worse the further north you get because you get closer to the college DU chapter idiots.
Shoot me a pm if you're bow hunting. Lots more options on Corps land with a whole lot less pressure. I know a guy who can get some badass maps for the corps ground.
