Did a turkey in one last year for Thanksgiving, came out great. I still like the deep fryer but it was nice not having to buy 5 gallons of peanut oil.

I love mine and use it weekly. Cooks wild boar and duck outstanding. One of my all time favorite cooking devices

Bringing this thread back up. Thinking about buying one to do turkeys for Thanksgiving, anybody have any dealing with doing turkeys? Is it better than deep frying or should I stick with using peanut oil?

I've never personally used an oil fryer for a turkey, but i know its a mess and takes a bunch of oil.

I've used one of the oilless ones. It works well. First time i used it was turkey day last year. I've been volunteered to cook again if that says anything.

I've still never bought one. Turkeys in the Oil less fryer are some of the best I've had.

NOW how does that work?

I like that you can season the outside of the turkey before it goes in. I brined mine for a day in apple cider vinegar and brown sugar, then rubbed it down with a heavy dose of Tony's and Louisiana Cajun seasoning. Made a nice seasoned crispy shell.
