The United States Department of Agriculture, also known as the USDA, is the U.S. federal executive department responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, forestry, rural economic development, and food. Trump used money from tariffs to support US farmers the Biden administration has other plans wants to deploy a $30 billion pot of money in the Agriculture Department to tackle climate change, support restaurants and kickstart other programs without waiting for Congress. The trick will be convincing Congress that the USDA has the authority to use funds from the CCC to create a “carbon bank” to pay producers for using sustainable farming practices to capture carbon in soil. New purposes for the CCC may extend to many different needs. In his stimulus plan, Biden identified the fund as a potential source of economic relief for restaurants as many have shuttered or scaled back operations during the pandemic. The Agriculture Department declined to comment. |

Excellent idea to use USDA for this. They are perfectly positioned and qualified to manage this. just did the legal for two USDA rural projects of $5.8 million and $8.5 milliiing funding for rural water expansions and upgrades. |

Former Vice President Gore - a farmer has done some "hands on research" on his farms with planting cover crops to absorb Carbon CO and CO2 back into the soil - a process which actually makes the soil more fertile - but it takes years.... With cash value in those needed cover crops - subsidies and I mean serious subsidies would be needed to aid farmers in choosing those types of crops instead of "money crops" and that also means lower employment with no cash crop to pick and move to market.... I just have serious doubts Biden and his base have any patients for such long term soil carbon absorption technics..... My guess is that he will just give farmers like or oilmen a quick kick in the nuts and use those Billions for quick political value programs and they will simply loose their subsidies and their farms.... Billionaires like Bill Gates who owns more farm land in the US than anyone else will just buy off those failed family farms for pennies on the dollar because their pockets are deep enough to last thru the four year Biden term of office.... Oh and by the way Bill Gates has NO PLANS to use soil enrichment to absorb CO and CO2 on his vast farmlands ! He wants to build these DAC - Direct Air Collectors . |
