I have done a couple and I think they look pretty good. In the brackish marsh that most of my customers run in, painting the block is almost a must. And sorry, but this is the only boat I could find decent pics of an all black motor. A blacked out motor looks much better on a camo boat. IMG_3872.JPG IMG_3874.JPG |

On the block I use a high temp (flat black) paint from rustoleum. And over the top of that I spray an anti corrosion sealant from Zep, called Restore. If the block is already badly corroded, I knock off as much corrosion with a wire brush as possible, spray the block with Restore to neutrailze what ever corrosion is left, then paint it. |

thanks for the pics, it looks good. Couple of questions for ya...can you paint over the oil cooler or do you need to leave that alone? Also do you use the rustoleum for the entire motor or just the block? Any recommendations on painting the plastic, mine is a little faded. thanks |

I usually strip everything off the outside of the motor and paint the block only. I also paint the flywheel too, but that's all. As far as the oil cooler, paint shouldnt hurt it. Most all of the companies that camo paint motors, paint the entire outside of the motor. But I havent found anything that sticks to the plastic covers very well (espically if you pressure wash the motor regularly), other than having them dipped. |
