Post Scouting for red deer in New Zealand
I've had a few of you contact me about hunting red deer so thought id start taking some photos of my hunts now that its getting warmer.
This is an old logging road called Cascade road in the Longwoods about 1/2 hour from home, I hadn't been up here in ages so just checking for sign. Not far from here last week me and my mate missed 4 hinds standing in the open.

This is reasonably open bush, its not virgin forest but its probably 80-120 years old here. The younger stuff up the road further is tight you can hardly push through it.
Going up to night shoot it tomorrow morning, see what walks out onto the road one of the advantages of no game wardens.
Have a look on google earth its an interesting piece of forest with some selective logging continuing and old roads cutting all through it.

Still having banked one yet but my hunting buddy dropped this nice spiker the other night.
Drove up and gutted it and boned out the legs for him.
